Oxford was a brilliant day out. Went up by car, stayed up there after the match. Ran into a pub load of tooled up racist locals who literally wanted to kill a mate of mine because of the colour of his skin, but I managed to drag him away. In another boozer, he told me that a couple of black brothers wanted to kick the sh*t out of me for acting flash, which was how they interpreted the fact that I'd walked into "their" pub wearing a not exactly shabby looking sheepskin.

Lofty's Wall of Sound - What are you listening to?

He's referring to a certain former member of this site (now banned) referred by another City fan, could have been yourself, as "either a rag or dipper in disguise". In the Ebola Outbreak thread he described himself as "deeply religious", but came across as relgious nutter. Either that or he was on a windup. Interestingly, there was a Liverpool fan on a Liverpool forum with the same username posting in a Liverpool v Man City match thread. He's banned from there as well. Even his fellow fans can't stand him.- Vintage Blues pictures and film
Your memory is far better than mine, that's for sure. If it's the same one, then what I remember is people turning up with old sofas and armchairs presumably nicked from building sites. Actually I'm pretty sure that's the one: I'd have been 16 then (17 in August), so I was old enough to be out all night.- Vintage Blues pictures and film
I'm honestly not sure. I've got vague (and some not so vague) memories of queuing overnight for tickets, but after all these years I can't remember to save my life whether or not that was one of them.- Lofty's Wall of Sound - What are you listening to?

Ossie scoring the 1972-73 Goal Of The Season during the FA Cup Quarter Final against Arsenal on 17 March 1973. The match finished in a 2-2 draw. Arsenal won the replay.- Roy Keane what a c**t
Roy Keane is, I think, very much a Marmite personality. I say "personality", because I think we can all agree that he was a hell of a player. But for the man himself, people seem to either love him or hate him. I tend to agree that if he'd been a Chelsea player, then the Roy Keane haters among us may have thought differently of him. He'd still have been a c**t, but he would have been our c**t, and so we would have been more or less duty bound to take a more positive viewpoint of his character. One thing I like about this thread, is that it's all been quite amicable, despite the vast differences of opinion the pro and anti Roy Keane brigade. There again, things might have been different if he'd been a Chelsea player - it's easier to be dispassionate when not discussing one of your own. It does make a nice change though: "I reckon he's a right c**t"... "you do? fair enough, I think he's brilliant". Not forgetting that as a direct result of this thread, we've also seen the back of a plastic Man City fan / Dipper in disguise. Can't be bad.- Vintage Blues pictures and film

Giles Smith Today is what’s known in publishing as Super Thursday – the launch day for the big books aimed at the Christmas market, many of them, inevitably, celebrity autobiographies, and quite a high proportion of them sports-related. You’ll have noticed, perhaps, one or two mentions in the press for the Kevin Pietersen book, which is part of this year’s annual marketing push. We’re also told to brace ourselves for autobiographies from two Roys - Keane of Manchester United, and Race of Melchester Rovers. Keane has, for some reason, decided to release into the world a second volume of angry venting when many of us still hadn’t quite got round to reading the first one. Race, meanwhile, known forever to the world as Roy of the Rovers, is breaking years of silence to tell the story of one of the game’s most remarkable and enduring careers. Race even seems to have opened his own Twitter account, @officialroyrace, which might be worth following for some saner, old-school views on the game in these hectic, knee-jerk, hype-driven times. A choice of Roys, then, in the bookshops this season. You can go for a volume of rancorous score-settling. Or you can select the long-awaited memoir of a true, magnificently unembittered sportsman who stands for the game’s eternal values and who has a proper story to tell, involving kidnappings, earthquakes, a terrorist car bombing and a helicopter crash. I know which one I’d rather read.- Cover versions pt II

Going back a long time now, but there were a few Chelsea from Ashford, move out from Bermondsey and the like, and I'm sure I remember a regular little mob coming up from Orpington. Margate was Chelsea's traditional Bank Holiday day out/weekend away. And then of course there was Tunbridge Wells. And they all behaved themselves, according to the song they sung...- Wenger
His own players stating in so many words that Wenger lost control when he pushed Mourinho is a strong indication that Wenger is losing control of the dressing room, and that some of the Arsenal players at least, may well have had enough of him. Laurent Koscielny in the Standard: The facts are that after Cahill’s tackle, I think the coach was a little upset because three days before Alexis Sánchez received the same tackle against Galatasaray. The player only got a yellow card. It’s true, he [Wenger] flew out of control.”- Mike Ashley
The club have issued the following Notice under Section 303 of the Companies Act 2006
The Company announces that it has received a notice dated 7 October 2014 from Mike Ashley, a director of MASH Holdings Limited ("MASH") under Section 303 of the Companies Act 2006 The notice states that MASH holds 4,265,000 Ordinary Shares of 1p each in the Company amounting to 5% of the voting rights of the Company. MASH requires the Company to call a general meeting of the Shareholders of the Company and to put certain resolutions to Shareholders for inclusion in the business at such a general meeting of the Company (the "Notice"). The Notice puts forward resolutions for the removal of Graham Wallace and Philip Nash as directors of the Company. The Company is currently verifying that the Notice is properly constituted. If valid, the Board intends to seek to have such Notice withdrawn in order to avoid the cost and disruption of an ad hoc general meeting particularly given the Company's forthcoming Annual General Meeting, further details of which will be announced in due course. The Board is united in its support of the executive team. If the Notice is valid and is not withdrawn, the Directors intend to recommend that Shareholders vote against the proposed resolutions. A further announcement will be made shortly. With his 5% worth of declared shares, Mike Ashley is now attempting to have members of the current board removed; this looks horribly like the beginning of Mike Ashley making his move, maybe intending to replace those two directors with his own men, or with the intention of taking up one of those two places himself, perhaps.- Win a 1905 Chelsea Top courtesy of Toffs Retro Football Shirts
My excuse is that I was born in '56. so as there was a slight change of shirt in '57, the '55 shirt would have been worn the year I was born. I bought the 1905 shirt a few years ago, and had already decided to buy the 1955 shirt, which I'll be doing either just before or just after Christmas.
