  1. No, I just like the adverts.
  2. I've been lurking for a wee while. By the by not my video. He did leave a foot in but i'm not sure if theres contact, if there is its extremely minimal and he could certainly have stayed up. At least thats my two pence! ...Should have gone to Specsavers!
  3. BlairBlue you are a man after my own heart! I agree wholeheartedly about Mourinho. Not a very popular view round here, and we're definitely in the minority, but I'm glad I'm not alone in my view.
  4. El nino = bad wind, Maksimov. To be fair Coco, I don't think he's done or said anything wrong. He's said things I don't agree with, but that's not the same thing at all. I think it's a little unfair to be asking one person to justify every action of every Liverpool fan ever. I know I'm a very reasonable person, but he's been far less objectionable than the vast majority of Liverpool fans we've had on here. I can't remember the last time I heard a Liverpool fan diss St Steven, but this guy did. He's also been very reasonable in accepting that his club and its fans are not perfect. dkw - in response to your point, one of the things I discovered when working with young people is not that their parents think their kids can do no wrong, but more to the point they simply don't care. I cannot think of anything less depressing than the number of parents who aren't willing to come to the police station when their kids have been arrested, not because they are angry, but because it's interrupting their leisure time. Who can we blame for young people's behaviour? If no-one cares about them or even takes the time to teach them right from wrong, what can we expect? Also, the police spend an inordinate amount of time concentrating on stopping and searching young people and arresting then for really minor activities, which in my day would have just warrented a clip round the ear. Is it the young people's fault that no-one is looking out for them, or the so-called "adults" in our society?
  5. dkw when I was young, growing up in West London, most of the people I mixed with were young black people, just like most of my white friends. We listened to black music, danced at the same clubs, dressed in the same way. That was back in the early 70s. When I lived in London I spent many years doing voluntary work with young people, most of whom had been in trouble with the police. I had a good relationship with them and they with me. (I could even do "streettalk" myself. I hate that people assume that all young people are bad, even if they had been in trouble with the law. I wouldn't want to be young today for all the money in the world. I think they have a terrible reputation and it's largely unfounded. Most of them are no worse than we were in my youth and some of them are a lot better. Where I live now young people have an awful time, they get treated with absolutely no respect by the elderly, who I have to say are some of the most rude people I have ever come across. I was brought up to respect my elders, but most of this lot don't deserve my respect. If any young person does anything that could be vaguely described as enjoying themselves they are immediately condemned as if they were criminals. Makes me sick. I had a great time as a young person and I'd like to make sure every young person has the same opportunity. Even behaving like a "knob" as Glory put it, is just a part of growing up. We all go through it and it makes us the people we are today. I find it strange when young people up here come out sounding like "gangtas" as they are so far removed it's not true. But it's just the same as us wearing the same uniform of clothes throughout the 60s and 70s, just wanting to be part of something. It's no different.
  6. Well fair play to you, regarding Gerrard, I really don't like his arrogance and don't think I would if I was a Liverpool fan. (Not that my imagination goes that far) I'm sure it's the same feeling for us when Drogba dives, particularly when he so doesn't need to. Yes, you're right, about the accent and not the dialect. But with some people the accent is so strong it's almost impossible to differentiate between the two. I remember the last time I went to Liverpool and having to stop to ask directions, it took me at least four people before I even had a clue where I was supposed to go. Maritime law is an interesting choice. Are you from Liverpool? Would you be able to stay up there to practice, or would you have to move to London? (You never know you might even end up as a Chelsea fan, as there's really no other team in London.) I certainly wish you luck with it. Law is very competitive these days, but as always, if you can succeed it's an excellent and lucrative profession.
  7. but that's just streettalk used by young people, which I thought was pretty much a national phenomena. "Scouse" on the other hand is used by people of all generations in Liverpool. So what degree are you doing? Surely the written word is used? In danger of labouring a joke I made previously, you could train to become an optician, to help your fellow scousers, see the true worth of Steven Gerrard. Now that would be a public service!
  8. Do you know Geezer I was at uni (Cambridge) with a scouser, so it is possible. Mind you he spent his whole time moaning about being in the land of privilege and no-one knew how tough it was where he came from and no-one knew about the working class. Then we found out both his parents were teachers in private schools, which was how come he got to go to Cambridge. Gave us our biggest laugh.
  9. I don't know uni student and don't know how to spell! Some = sum
  10. Jeez Val, the reality must have been a terrible disappointment to you.
  11. Can I point out it wasn't really all Mourinho's team was it. Surely Ranieri bought most of them? I wouldn't say that Grant is a brilliant manager, but then I never liked Mourinho, from the start. Glad of the trophies but I think he created as many problems as he solved. I don't agree that he gave us self-belief, I think he created an environment where everyone believed that only he could lead them and without him they would be lost. And for a long time they were. But the team were never a collection of also rans, they were always world class players. Whoever took over from Mourinho it was always going to be a difficult job to shake off that messiah like quality that he had instilled in the team. But give him his due, Grant has done well to keep the momentum going and keep the team together and keep them winning. I think it's a real shame that Chippy, who only ever said, that we should give Grant a chance, stopped posting because he was fed up with listening to the continuous battering he got every time he just asked people to be reasonable. He was right and I wish he was here now to hear people say it. (Just excepted)
  12. You can (could) get some cheap flights to Riga and then onward flight to Moscow, which wasn't bad price but the only problem was you would have to stay in Moscow / Riga until Friday to get a reasonably priced return flight from Riga. Some hotels were doing deals for football fans.
  13. Oh come on, I can't read smilies, what does that mean? What are you chicken?
  14. You're a very lucky little blighter Alan. If I was 35 years younger I think I would let you be my boyfriend then you could take me to all these big games and you (or your Dad) could pay for the tickets. (There's nothing mercenary about me, oh no, nothing!)
  15. Lofty, I think you misunderstand me. If you read my post again you would realise that of course I know that Pete Ashton and RedRobMol are one and the same and the second part of my post is directed at him, not you. I wouldn't for one moment expect you or anyone else to know how I refer to my cancer, so please don't feel the need to apologise for it. But thank you for your good wishes, although my cancer has already metastised so my treatment, although successful at keeping me alive, for a lot longer than was originally thought, is only palliative. My intention. in my response. was to infer that my feelings about my cancer are far greater than anything that RedRobMol/PeteAshton, or any, visiting windup merchant, could raise in me. He's simply not worth it. Not worth getting wound up about and really, although I did on this one occasion, not worth responding to. I only wish you could feel the same way and then you wouldn't get so upset by him, because he's really not worth the energy.
  16. Well Lofty I actually didn't mention RedRobMol at all and I'm not sure why you mention him in your answer to me. I can also assure you that mobs of fans from most other clubs have tried to invade the site on many occasions, at least I'm sure that happened when PR was running it. Regarding the other things that Liverpool FC fans do, I wouldn't argue with you, although I can remember times when we too weren't saints and put fear in the hearts of many other clubs. I'm sure you remember those times too Lofty. It goes back to the stones and glass houses problem. But as I say this is about football. I too hate Liverpool FC and its fans, just because I'm Chelsea, no other reason. I don't need any other reason. I'm only saying that to use the post of someone who is clearly a c*** as an example that they are all c***s, isn't really fair. As for PeteAshton, well I personally don't understand why you continue to visit the site? Of course it's only a wind-up and surely you have got bored of it by now? I can't regard you as being poisonous, or sly or insidious. Because funnily enough that's exactly how I regard my cancer and you Pete don't even remotely warrant such passion. On the contrary I feel sorry for you. I suspect that you have some small psychological problem. The need to return somewhere that you have been banned from twice before and post where you know people will attack you? A little masochistic in my opinion. We have our very own resident psychiatrist "Just" who could possibly help you with your "problem" and dissuade you from posting any further where you are not wanted. If you wish I will see if I can make an appointment for you. Of course the sensible alternative would be for you to simply go away on your own and obtain one of the many self help books that there are out there. But please just answer me one question before you go, "Do you think Liverpool FC fans will be making appointments at Specsavers, so that they could finally actually see the true worth of Steven Gerrard?"
  17. Glad you raised the Gray comments. I was almost sick last night listening to him, usually i would put 5live commentary on, but i was out watching it and didnt have any choice but to listen to his pathetic one sided commentary. Time for Gray to move over and let a modern day ex footballer who is more clued up with todays football take over. Who the hell would miss him ? I really couldn't believe his comments. The fact that he kept on referring to Liverpool as "we" throughout, everytime they scored he was so smug and then at the end I think he must have been in tears. Surely they must supposed to be unbiased, when they're commentating? I accept that they can show their bias when they're asked their opinion, but not when they're commentating. You would think we were watching a different game in the first half.
  18. I don't wake up till lunchtime, so I've spent the last couple of hours phoning round my friends, interrupting everyone's lunch, telling them how happy I am and did they watch the match? No, well, let me tell you all about it. Mos of my friends aren't in the slightest bit f***ing interested in football, but I made them endure. One of them asked, "oh, it was only the semi-final, I thought, by the way you're going on, it was the final". "Oh, no" But that's it, it doesn't feel like the semi it feels like the final and we won. I probably will care come the 21st, but at the moment it doesn't matter. Last night was immense. Rafa's criticism of Drogba couldn't have done us more favours. Frank's whole demeanour, throughout the game, he was doing that for his mum and he did her and Frank Snr. proud. Poor Bella, (my smaller dog) couldn't eat her dinner last night because she was so anxious with all my shouting and screaming at the screen. I even saw my neighbour earlier who said "you were watching the match last night then Jane, we heard you screaming and singing at the TV" my house is not so close to theirs But, I am so frigging happy that no-one could make me angry or pissed off today, no-one. We've beaten the scum and I am ecstatic. If my memory serves me well, this feeling is almost better than sex and certainly longer lasting! By the way, welcome to all the new people who posted, keep it up!
  19. I'm heartened by the fact that the majority of respondents to his thread are disagreeing with him, but I'm not really that surprised are you? People are people, yes, there are, in every group, idiots, such as the original poster of this thread, (the Liverpool one) but it doesn't help when we assume that everyone from the same group is an idiot, just because they're in that group. The idea of pointing out that there are some c***s who support Liverpool, doesn't make them all c***s. Over the last few years I've come to really dislike Liverpool FC and its fans, but that's football. If I thought I could generate the same hatred towards everyone from the city, outside of football, I'd really start to worry about myself. Why? Because it's just ridiculous. I don't know about anyone else, but I've actually known a few Chelsea fans who I can't stand and the only thing I can share with them is their feelings for the club, but outside of football I wouldn't call them friends and wouldn't choose to spend time with them. We used to have a young woman on this site, from Liverpool, who was a Chelsea supporter, but she stopped posting because she got so upset about the way all Liverpudlians were spoken about. She was a really nice girl and I was really sorry about that. It didn't matter how many times I told her the comments were only targeted at Liverpool FC supporters, but funnily enough I don't think she believed me. I wonder why. I'd like to think that no-one on this site would get away with saying anything remotely similar to the guy on the Liverpool site, but sadly that's not true. I've been appalled about some posts making terrible personal remarks about, for example, the people of Liverpool, footballers who should have their legs broken, and our own Avram Grant. Perhaps instead of using this example to show that Liverpool fans are the lowest of the low, we should remember how upsetting it is when people say awful things and people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. BTW c***chop is going to become my new favourite!
  20. Welcome! Oldham eh, I bet between last Saturday and tonight you won't be too popular. Enjoy every second of it!
  21. Anyone else wondering what side Drogba dresses, from looking at those pictures?
  22. Wouldn't it be nice if all those people who are on-line, but never post, decided to make tonight their first post!? Come on we won't bite yer! Unless your Liverpool fans of course.
  23. Not only our boys did us proud tonight, but so did our fans. In good song throughout I thought.
