1. I actually didn't read the thread, but I did hear the message - which was so sweet. The funny thing was the lad I was with said to me "That's your name, that's funny that there's two people here with the same name isn't it?" Bless his heart!
2. The team did come out for the second half with more impetus. But sadly they'd mostly forgotten how to play football. Exceptions being Joe Cole and Wayne Bridge.
3. Now you're all making me feel sentimental "Mummy" - is that yummy mummy? Probably feel more like granny if the truth be told. But I'll get you for that Loz - quite apart from the fact that I'm NOT the oldest female poster AND some of the male posters are even older than me. I mean take Bluebeard - can you imagine me having given birth to BB? He's months older than me and I've never seen myself as a member of the "old gits" club. I am really excited about tomorrow. I feel exactly like the first time I went to the Bridge without my Dad and Uncle. I was 13, it was 1970 and I was all kitted out in my Levis, Ben Sherman and DMs. I got to the tube station, carefully avoiding the old man, who was going to the same match anyway, and ran into the loo and put on some make up. I was the only girl in the gang I used to go with and amazingly none of the boys objected to my being with them. I wasn't a tom boy, (nor a slapper) I didn't fight, (unless I absolutely couldn't avoid it) but accepted that they did and we went together until I started working overseas, many years later. They just accepted my passion for the club, even though I was "only a girl". Selfishly, (I know it cocks up your meet up) I really hope we absolutely hammer them tomorrow, as I've heard enough "norvern" ***** going on about "Chelski," in the last few days, to last me a lifetime. (Gem, there's no danger of me overcoming my "Tourrettes" anytime soon.) I have to have 12 hours sleep, so I'll be off to bed fairly soon as even a 5:30 pm kick off doesn't guarantee I'll get all my zeds in. I'm just praying I'll be able to keep awake long enough to get through the evening. Just the journey and having to sit on those awful seats means I'll have to take enough medication to send the little sniffer dogs on a frenzy. So thank you all for your good wishes, and I'll let you know how it went on Sunday (I don't do mornings) afternoon.
4. And you think you'll see quality play at a Chelsea match? I'll get my coat. No, of course Val, I was referring to Barnsley
5. I didn't take it as a dig - but I seriously did have a tear in my eye!
6. sniff, brings a tear to your eye. god bless you guvner Well, in truth dkw - it did bring a tear to my eye! So there! I don't want to bore you all with the details, but the chances of me going to watch my team play are getting smaller by the day. As Barnsley is only just over two hours drive from here, as against over three to get to Stamford Bridge, and it will be a smaller (if not friendlier) crowd, then it will be much safer place for me to go. So, yes, it did bring a tear to my eye and I'm so excited. I'd like to nominate Just for the "Gentlemen of the Year Award" and he is now MY HERO! (Well, I suppose I should also mention Daniel who's my carer's son, who's agreed to take me and he's never been to see a Premiership team play - and without the tickets he'd never get to see real quality play either.)
7. As the tickets to the Barnsley match are only open to Season Ticket Holders and Members, could anyone please help me out? I really would like to go the match and have managed to get someone to agree to take me - but my problem is I need 2 tickets. Could anyone please help?
8. Taken from the replies after the Dustin the Turkey interview. "PeterPanThe2nd (3 days ago) Reply 'dats wa e always duz hi...its lyk his trademark...' " Liam - I'm probably being very stupid but it hadn't occurred to me, until I saw this, that 'text talk' in Ireland would have it's very own idiom. Between your post and this above have certainly given me a chuckle this evening. I can hear them being spoken in my head. lol takes me right back to my own Guinness days.
9. Oh well, it was worth a try. BTW in my delight at the thought of getting a ticket I totally forget to say how sorry I was that you weren't able to make it. My apologies and I am really sorry. Still, if anyone else can get me two tickets - I would be most grateful! (Well not that grateful, but you wouldn't really want me to be that grateful anyway.)
10. Alan - do you want to sell your tickets? I really want two tickets, so if you do PM me, if you would. Many thanks Jane
11. I would like to get two tickets, but they are not going on General Sale. I've managed to persuade a willing victim to take me, could anyone help out? Pretty please. (Nibs - I know I'm a woman and all that, and I was going to Chelsea since I was a little child - but I've always been a passionate supporter and can only apologise for my wish to go to the match)
12. DKW - have you looked into going home via Doncaster. It's a bit tight and you would have to book tickets separately rather than straight through, there's also 2 changes, but it is almost feasible. Details as follows: Depart Barnsley 19:48 Arrive Meadowhall 20:03 Change trains Depart Meadowhall 20:17 Arrive Docaster 20:41 Change trains Depart Doncaster 21:19 Arrive Kings Cross 23:20 Total journey time 3hrs 32 mins. Seems better than going North to Leeds to go back South again.
13. Glory - you'll have to be careful in Barnsley! My local ITV coverage up here also covers some of Yorkshire and according to the locals who appeared on TV, they can't wait to meet the Chelsea fans! Many years ago, when I worked in magazine publishing, one of the mags I worked on was one of those top shelf titles you chaps all know and love, anyway, as I was doing the PR & Marketing I got to go on a roadshow with some young ladies, who appeared in the magazine. (It was my idea of a nightmare but still.) One of the places we visited was Barnsley, in the nightclub (I use the term loosely) one of the customers grabbed my bottom so hard, he totally ripped my trousers (baring in mind I was not one of the models and was FULLY dressed and clearly not part of the show) - I told one of the security people we'd employed locally to guard the girls and he thought it was funny and couldn't see what my problem was! Barnsley, is an ex-mining stronghold - the locals are genuinely not very friendly to us Southerners. Mind you, it's about 2 hours drive from me and I'm wondering if I can get to go. I'll let you know if I do and perhaps if anyone's doing the trip we could meet up.
14. What a result Nat - hope you enjoyed the experience. Have a good time with the "in" crowd!
15. It would seem that only a few people have read the article until the end. I know it's the Sun and all that, but. He doesn't want to play for Man Utd, he's happy at Chelsea and wants to stay - good enough for me.
16. Surely Punk was of British origin.
17. I've always had a bit of a fondness for Brentford, aside, of course, from the only team.
18. Actual Home Office statistics for football related arrests, show that whilst we are not angels we aren't the worst either. Portsmouth has worse arrest records than we do. There's some interesting stats here if anyone is interested. http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/documents/ ... iew=Binary
19. So very sad to read this news. BB and I crossed swords on the odd occasion, but agreed on far more things than we disagreed. For anyone to face such major surgery is a true mark of a very very brave person. It is so sad that he didn't make it, but boy what a bloke he was to have faced it with such hopes for the future. His family must be devastated and they are in my thoughts and prayers. As for BB well.... Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circling flight I am the soft stars that shine at night Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there. I did not die. I'll look you up when I get there mate, but in the meantime, enjoy!
20. I think it's supposed to be "wide blue yonder". I can't remember where it comes from, but I think it's a quote from a film. Brian would probably know which film. I can't remember.

A tragedy! Even more so that he had to deal with this crap. "Doctors had recommended he take the drug Sutent after chemotherapy failed to beat the disease, but the NHS refused to fund the ?3,500-a-month treatment." Although Sutent cannot cure Kidney cancer it can significantly extend the life of patients and improve their quality of life. That he had to rely on others to raise the funds to pay for it, must have caused him a lot of anguish and is in my opinion disgraceful that it is not funded by PCTs around the country. However, some PCTs do fund it, another case of cancer patients being victims of a postcode lottery. I had seen him on TV quite recently and thought he looked quite well. He is a tragic loss to music and the modern music industry. May he rest in peace/noise/fun/whatever afterlife he would choose for himself.
24. Rob, I'm not entirely sure, but I do think you have to be a Top Up TV customer to receive Setanta, which I cannot recommend. It costs ?9.99 per month and the programmes you receive are drivel. Never the premium programmes from the channels they have access to, generally the real dross that is on these channels. I had it for a while and had to cancel it, mostly on principal. It's a rip off. But I do think it's the only way you can get the Setanta channel, which makes that double the price they are offering. Of course I may be totally wrong. I cannot comment on the Setanta offering. I think you get a number of Premiership games per season, but I'm not sure which ones they are. If you do ahve to have Top Up TV I definitely wouldn't bother. Read this article for further info. on Top Up TV, it makes it sound quite positive but it really isn't and it looks like it isn't as simple anymore as just putting the card in and going from there, it looks like you also have to buy their specific PVR, for only ?120, plus ?9.99 per month. http://www.frequencycast.co.uk/topuptvanytime.html
