  1. Hardly an 'attack' is it? A humorous sledge is all & let's face it brexiteer - deserved: you'll take any opportunity you can to deride Mourinho & your contempt for same defines you - one only has to look at your choice of user name, avatar & post history to see that. What's 'embarrassing' is your reaction to the sledge. You dish it out constantly when it comes to Mourinho & to those on here who still have some respect for him but when it comes back by way of a playful jibe, it distresses you. If you give it out you've got to expect that at some stage it'll come back - so grow up & have a bit of a laugh at yourself.
  2. Thanks for posting the after-match pressy Charles. Significant that Wenger, when asked about their chances of making the top 4 said "very difficult". He also more or less conceded that his team is very vulnerable on both the counter-attack & in respect to aerial duels. When asked why the team looked uninterested in the 2nd half he mentioned that it seemed to be a recurring problem with the team when playing away from home when 2 goals down. He looked as chastened as I've ever seen him look after a loss but I suppose he's starting to get used to it now.
  3. Fair enough but I reckon the toffees will be ahead of 'em & in 6th place come the last day of the season when they play 'em at Emirates. Which would be worse for L'Arse? Coming 7th & missing out on Europe altogether or coming 6th & having to play on Thursday nights? Most of their supporters would probably say that coming 7th is better for 'em long term.
  4. Well....true enough but how likely is it that they'll make the top 4 now? I would've thought it's distinctly unlikely. Their away form has been atrocious since early December when they swatted Spam. Since that game, they've lost away to the Toffees, City, Us, Pool, Albion & Palace & secured an undeserving draw away to the Cherries. I think they're in free-fall now & beating Boro when they couldn't even beat em' at home earlier in the season might well be beyond them. At this rate, they may not even have Thursday nights to look forward to next season. Let's hope that that doesn't happen!
  5. This may have been posted by someone else herein - dunno - anyways, the ever brilliant David Squires: https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2017/apr/04/david-squires-mourinho-moyes-post-match-interviews-ronaldo two best bits for me: that Daily Hate banner & 'Now 100% Insane" and the wall sponsors in the last frame.
  6. yes - a very fair point & spud's achille's heel no doubt and of course they have 6 away games left of which 2 are derbies. We have only 5 away left of which I feel though, 4 will be tough games: Stoke, Utd, Toffies & Baggies & we have struggled at Goodison & the Hawthorns in recent years. Both of us have very good records at home this year & one would not expect that to change. moreover, I don't feel my position is 'negative' per se (not from you Zero) and I don't appreciate the dig. No doubt it is ours to lose but I remain wary just the same.
  7. mmmm....there's going to be some twists & turns yet. We have a harder run-in than spuds - their run-in is the easiest of any of the top 6 so they're still a danger - city not so much now. Our two next games are critical. If we can get at least a win & a draw & remain 8 points clear of spuds then I might start to get excited but not yet.
  8. Apparently 32 goals against 16 for in the last 16 over the last 6 years.
  9. never thought I'd see the day where I pitied Arsenal fans but today is that day & I suspect that if there was any remaining doubts at Board level concerning Wenger's future at the club at season's end then surely those have been dispelled tonite.
  10. now patsy...you don't mind if I call you that do you? First, up until today I don't think I'd posted in this thread for some 2 weeks or so albeit I've looked in from time to time to find the same old crap being posted by you & the other patsy's. Secondly, I do post in other threads for what its worth & have done so for more than 10 years & I have to say that your comment that most of my posts are jose related is simply not borne out - so hyperbole from you yet again. Thirdly, what I and possibly others in this thread are somewhat curious about is that both you & your fellow patsy's seem to have this recurring meme in your posts which is somewhat revealing whereby you constantly seem to equate any poster's respect and/or defence of jose's record as some sort of erotic fixation. If you go back through this thread you see these sorts of comments made over & over again. And I have to say that I find that amusing because I think it says a lot about you & your fellow patsy's true but hidden feelings about jose. Now I don't want to be critical of that - there's nothing wrong with you having those sort of feelings for jose - entirely a matter for you as to how you deal with your inner conflict in that regard. I sincerely hope for your sake that you can resolve it if not least because that tension in opposition may & probably will effect those close to you in your life. Anyway, good-luck with dealing with it.
  11. hehe...for what it's worth this is the tom & jerry thread - fond eh? hehe
  12. hehe...newby; tell me newby have you read the whole thread or did you think you'd just wade in with 'this thread is a joke' for cheap effect? Tell us - what is this thread about?
  13. You're such a patsy too konkai: do you think you'd win out over bola in the patsy stakes ? Perhaps we should take a poll.
  14. As far as I'm concerned you've mostly been a troll on this site since you joined as well and always join in to denigrate Mourinho any chance you get. Scorn?!?! Do you even understand Mourinho's philosophy of football: he has always built his teams from the back & prizes the defence of any team as the lynch-pin. Accordingly, all your comment shows is that you're either totally ignorant of this or, alternately, if you do know that you've elected to chime in to have a go at Mourinho because you see it as just another opportunity. Your comment admits of only those two possibilities: So which is it?
  15. Perhaps you're right yb & it's the only solution in respect to this troll given the failure of others to act. Must be some twenty pages or so ago in this thread I commented that it was sad that we'd come to the point on this site that it was deemed acceptable for a poster to call an ex-manager a c**t let alone an ex-manager who was instrumental in delivering 3 of our 5 titles. After I said that, and no action was taken, it emboldened this troll who thereafter kept calling Mourinho a c**t & still does. What I don't get is this: the site rules stipulate that if you're out of line, disrespectful to & use these sort of words against other posters you're binned. Why is this not the same for this troll? Does Mourinho himself, who has done more for our club than anyone on here have to be a member of this site in order for this to occur? Why do we have to continually put up with these continual slanders questioning our allegiance to this club (as the troll does above)?
  16. Too right ploks. Perhaps the 'assist' category should be twofold: 'assists' proper & 'assysts' being for, among things, imaginative use of the woodwork ala Costa.
  17. lotsa history between us & interestingly Burnley best us in head to head over the years: we've won 34, they've won 37 with 22 matches drawn. Now obviously they haven't beaten us for sometime in the league - 1983 at their joint 3-0 (albeit that they shocked us in League Cup in 08/09 when they won on penalties). An interesting tie & they've proven difficult to beat at home this season. Take 1-0 all day long.
  18. yeah - it's a blind alley really: we're both big clubs - they're bigger in that their revenues are that much bigger. When you look at the figures you mention it's really about the same as a proportion against respective revenues so it's pretty meaningless.
  19. I don't really feel that it's very helpful at all to get caught up in a rather futile debate as to whether or not we can properly be described as 'defensive' or not or 'very defensive' or just 'defensive'. But let's not kid ourselves: against Arsenal at times in open play we adopted a position where we were defending with seven players: the back three & Kante & Matic obviously but also with Moses & Alonso dropping back. Now the reason why we've been so effective on the counter this year is because of its sheer speed and breadth on the counter - which on many occasions involves the wing-backs racing back up the park to provide options. Apparently, as at least some of the players have explicitly acknowledged in interviews - this Chels team is fitter than never before - Conte has demanded it. And, in that regard I'd like to see some of the mileage stats racked up by the wing-backs over say the last 4 months.
  20. yes. one can't quibble with our goal record - or for that matter with our goals conceded record. Both very healthy. As far as goals go though, we have a much higher return than the likes of pool & Utd among others when it comes to converting from shots on target: https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/ontarget_scoring_att and our total 'shots' this season are much less than the likes of Utd, spuds & pool: https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/total_scoring_att
  21. hehe..cognitive reasoning. Would that involve, among other things, remembering & paying attention? I think so. So...to your answers: you now admit, somewhat begrudgingly it must be said, that I never used the words 'very defensive' at all. An apology was probably warranted but I'll take the belated admission. Secondly, and for the record, this is what Mourinho says about us in the sky interview after the match against Watford: Mourinho told Sky Sports when asked if United themselves can catch Chelsea: "Honestly I don't think so. Why? Because Chelsea are a very good defensive team, they defend very well and defend with lots of players, very good players, and are very well organised. "I think in this situation, a very defensive team wins the title with counter-attack goals, set pieces goals, and individual goals from talented players. So I don't think they're going to let it slip." I'll admit that he does use the term 'very defensive'. Now why do you think he feels we defend with lots of players? Do you think that we don't Separately, I'm not going to reply to your speculations and ad hominems concerning me & where my loyalties lie that you set out in your earlier post - frankly it's beneath me to do so.
  22. alright...more dissembling on your part, followed by some meandering et al & finally some speculation. Let's try again shall we? First, I want you to answer some questions ok? 1. Kindly refer me to one of my previous posts in this thread we're I have stated that we play 'very defensive'? 2. Kindly isolate within the material MOTD interview with Mourinho where he explicitly states, according to you, that we play 'very defensive'? 3. Did I state in my post above that against Arsenal we played 'very defensive'? That'll be a yes or no type of answer.
  23. now you're dissembling & inventing: first, I think there is a tantamount difference wouldn't you agree between 'defensive' & 'very defensive'? I never said we were 'very defensive' did I? So, some invention there on your part is there not? And from it you proceed with your straw-man - ie you disagree that we're 'very defensive' & that is a form of dissembling. Secondly, it is trite that counter-attacking football has its genesis in a style of play that is defensively focused - you can't have one without the other. Thirdly, to say that we we're not 'defensive' against Arsenal is quite frankly ludicrous. Do you understand that the whole point in letting a side have more of the ball than you is that by definition you defend & wait patiently to pick them off & then break quickly? Finally, further invention from you: where on MOTD did Mourinho 'state', as you say, that we are playing 'negative' football?!? Quite simply he doesn't, does he?
  24. so...based on one result where your team gets humbled some time back...and in circumstances where that club has spent more on its squad somehow equates to a position where, in the present, you cannot answer a question that is asked of you?!? mmmm...from the land of the free....what poppycock.
  25. Righto bb - thanks for replying & credit to you for admitting that your opinion is based on a number of interviews of him this season - doubt that I'll see many others on here acknowledge that that is also what their 'opinion' is based on. I disagree that he's given a back handed compliment though - in fact, if anything, he's complimented Conte & Chels in the material interview. I agree that he's not overly fond of the footballing media in this country & their collective understanding of his preferred style of football. Frankly, who can blame him for that? Much, indeed most, of the alleged 'understanding' of the football media is agenda driven rubbish after-all.
