Our new technical director is...
Well...no, our scouts are already in place & they report to the TD. I do agree that the TD's job is a difficult & constantly demanding job though & I can totally understand & sympathise with Emenalo's stated reasons for resigning - especially given the constant managerial flux at Chels! And I wouldn't discount Frank's abilities as you do - he is very intelligent & as a player he was peerless in reading the game in terms of space & timing. Also, as a stepping stone to upper management I feel that being given a chance to be a TD first would only serve to compliment one's abilities as a manager later on.

BB - in two minds about seeing this: the reviews have not been good & one can only wonder why Branagh decided to take this on given that the '74 version (with Finney as Poirot) is an outstanding film & the Suchet version is just as good. Have you seen either of those previous versions BB?

Last Movie You Watched
I've always thought that the high point of his acting career was Risky Business and that every attempt he has made to act thereafter has been akin to watching some athletic jock having a go in some 3rd rate school production. I have always thought that Kubrick died prematurely & possibly out of shame after belatedly realizing that he had made the inexcusable mistake of casting him in Eyes Wide Shut.

Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager
^ there's a lot to agree with there but it has a silver lining & like the early part of last year it is a wake up call to those who make the decisions & that 's a good thing. Overall & for the future. And should it be the case that we don't "overachieve" in the league like last year, the fact is that we're back in Europe. That's important as far as the sums go. If some of you have to get used to the fact that we may, and probably won't, win the league this year, so be it. The League this year is not as important as our overall progression financially: ie being back in Europe & making a fair fist of it & being in the top 3 with the 'stadium' re-build to come. That's all that matters atm.

Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager
Criminal? Unnecessary hyperbole. The merit argument is understandable but circumstances are a bit different this year aren't they. Obviously last year Conte was initially given the brief to make the top 4 so as to get us back into Europe. Then, when it became evident that we could really push on so as to challenge for the title, Conte left nothing to chance & hence, even JT - as captain - was sacrificed to achieve that end. This year we have european games unlike last year & we've got a smallish squad so rotation, unlike last year, will come to the fore. And Cahill was not the reason why we drew with L'Arse. As far as the decision to start Fab - I totally agree with your points: this was the wrong decision & especially against L'Arse.

We officially have an incompetent board
Well said. We've been very fortunate for the last 15 years or so to have a benefactor who has been very generous. However, it became apparent some years ago now that that generosity could not continue unabated & that the club would have to at some future stage to make the move to become self-sustaining and in that regard we have mostly done very well. The missing piece in that respect as far as revenues are concerned was always match day revenues and of course this is now coming to fruition after years of wrangling and negotiations. So the parameters in respect to spending were set some years ago because of the need to re-develop the existing ground & the huge cost of doing so. And, despite that, we still remain very competitive and have managed to win the title twice and another european trophy since the self-sustaining financial model was adopted. The simple reality is that at present we will not always be able to match the likes on offer from Utd, City, Real, Barca et al for the very best players and nor should we be paying frankly ridiculous transfer prices for journeymen players. True it is that at present, our 1st team squad may be considered by some to be a bit threadbare and especially should injuries occur to key players but, it seems to me and others no doubt, that those who keep harping on about this have lost sight of the fact that the self-sustaining model must have preeminence. As such, and until the new stadium is finished this is where we are at. Now it seems to me that the club & board's position is very rational.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
yeah - it does look odd.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
^ c'mon Scotty - this ain't got much to do with the board: the clubs were apparently agreed on the transfer amount but the player decides he doesn't want to cross town purportedly in the rather interesting belief that he can somehow become a fixture in pool's midfield: really?!? Good-luck with that....Going to be hilarious should pool either not make an offer or make an absurdly low one which L'Arse turn down & he has to stay with em' for the next year. For a poodle, he's not that bright is he.

No. Here's the 1st lines of the screenplay: LANDSCAPES An opening voice-over plays against dissolving Texas landscapes--broad, bare, and lifeless. VOICE-OVER The world is full of complainers. But the fact is, nothing comes with a guarantee. I don't care if you're the Pope of Rome, President of the United States, or even Man of the Year--something can always go wrong. And go ahead, complain, tell your problems to your neighbor, ask for help--watch him fly. Now in Russia, they got it mapped out so that everyone pulls for everyone else-- that's the theory, anyway. But what I know about is Texas... And down here... you're on your own.
