  1. Of course I watched it and though our performance was below par, they were the better team! They were defensively organised and attacked well. We had one or two real chances and didnt put them away. They had a couple and finished one of them. This certainly was not an inevitable win (my point), but saying Chelsea/Corinthians is close to it I find bizarre. Chelsea/Leeds is closer to the mark. Disgraceful performance? maybe you should rewind to games against Juventus or last season at Napoli for example..... This hate Benitez campaign is just getting far far too old.
  2. Obviously we need another forward in January now studge is on his way. Villa would be ideal, I've heard Negredo's name mentioned wouldnt be upset with that either. Falcao isn't happening in January but we can hope for the summer. Until then give Torres the season and if he doesn't hit 20 goals at least then he should be shipped out if anybody would pay for him!
  3. How you can begrudge a team that actually beat us easily I'm not quite understanding? They may not be as good as Juve or Shakhtar but they certainly looked the better side when we played them. My point was just because they're not storming the Brazilian league doesn't mean it was an inevitable win especially with how this Chelsea team has performed this season.
  4. I wouldn't judge a book by its cover mate! If we didnt win the champions league look at our league position last year! Corinthians have quality that is for all to see. Plus it didnt help that they took that final 10x more seriously than we did!
  5. Thinking this one will be a draw. Torres is going to get more stick from the home support then other weeks so lets hope he uses it as a springboard either that or he'll flop around as usual and attempt to abuse referees with his spanish lingo
  6. It was a failure i'd agree but i'd also like to say I feel the players should shoulder a lot of blame for this as half of them didn't look arsed....But this is the same situation as the failure playing Shakhtar away and the Juventus home game where Mikel would have to take blame for their equaliser under Robbie's tenure. I'm not sure you know the quality of Corinthians as well mate so saying we "should" of beaten them is pushing the boat a bit. It's also a bit unfair to judge Benitez so soon he was hardly going to be able to work miracles in his first game against City. He will have tougher games in the season in which you will be able to judge him properly. But in order to do that the fans need to get behind him and the players in order to see the team make something out of this season! He's here now its pointless getting up percentages and comparing his record with Robbie but continued negativity is going to hinder the team.
  7. I know youre mentioning a mini slump but if we're looking at the wider picture in his last 8 games he won 2 (one being against a weakened utd side and the other being a fortunate win over Shakhtar) and if youre looking at some of those results like losing to shakhtar away and the calamity in Turin which have influenced our champions league campaign this season. Also look at the West Brom game I think the cracks were beginning to show in Robbie's effectivity with the team. Benitez has come in and yes started poorly with those first couple of games but lets be honest with the upset over the appointment it was going to take some time with the players to adjust. I don't agree about your predictions of how Robbie would have done but ultimately its pointless speculating as we'll never know. I just think now with Benitez's experience in we've adapted and are beginning to correct a few issues that were going on within the team.
  8. Again a decent player that you know hasnt had enough chance at the bridge (8 or 10 appearances??) I would certainly have him over Malouda nowadays. But not sure if he can cut it with the crop of players we have now although as a rotation player could be useful! After what he claimed about Rafa though not sure he'll last past the window though
  9. I think honestly Benitez deserves some credit as when he took over we were in a slump and he has arrested that slump! I know a lot of fans are still bitter about his appointment I honestly can say that after RDM's sacking I felt that he was the best possible option available (not that i wanted RDM to be sacked) It doesnt matter who Benitez has faced in comparison to Robbie what is important is that we have started to play well again and get into a good run of form. Someone earlier mentioned that we were playing inferior teams since Benitez had arrived well if RDM was still in charge how would we have done in those games? No one will know but I think we would of struggled as most teams had figured us out. Defensively we were all over the shop and we couldn't get our forward to score. Now look at it, Benitez has shaken up the style we play (not changed it entirely but adapted it), he's made us solid at the back (Luiz moved into midfield, something Robbie never flirted with), and by dropping one of the three amigo's he's managed to improve Torres' scoring rate by bringing in the work horse Moses. Seems simple but under Robbie would any of this happened?!?
