I don't mind telling anyone but can't be arsed to explain myself! This is a v good site and the quality and humour of the members is brilliant.

It wasn't taken badly mate, no worries.

It is oddly amicable. I have not told any of my Spurs mates about this... To ensure we don't get too amicable, we could throw in the odd abusive comment?! :-)

That's it in a nutshell. My reaction to the injury can best be summed up by the James May classic: "Oh, cock"

I haven't read or heard anything more about Bale's injury. The photo's look bad but, as some here have said, it might be less bad than it appears. There's been a fear, before last eve, that Bale - because of his pace essentially - has been an injury waiting to happen (fear from a Spurs point of view). I don't agree that we're a one-man team but I can't disagree that we're a lot less capable without him. I hope (for his sake and ours) that it's not season-ending injury.

Champions League 2012/2013
Well said. Chelsea's achievement aside, I don't find the CL interesting. The individual skill of some continental players is amazing but the matches are less so. For interest, the CL doesn't come close to the Premier League or to the Championship. Lack of interest aside, most clubs can't sustain a CL campaign AND challenge for their domestic title AND put together a cup run. The question then is what's more important to the club. Sadly, money is a huge factor and we have managers making the counter-intuitive decision to aim for 4th place rather than trying to win the FA Cup!

Good cause; donation made. Good luck with the walk lads.

Scoccerbuster - What team to pick this week?!
Will look forward to next week; this thread gave today's games an extra interest. Glad you're through. If you win, do we get a share of the winnings?!! (typical y*d question!) ;-)

Scoccerbuster - What team to pick this week?!
Tricky approach that. I think play it safe now, to make sure that you get to 'later'. Planning ahead only works if you're still in the game.

Soft spots for other teams?
And, strangely, Chelsea. Since I found this Forum (when that w****** of a ball boy p***** EH about) I am following Chelsea with increasing interest. I wouldn't want Chelsea to beat us, but I get the team a lot more and hope the owner/manager issues get sorted out.

Soft spots for other teams?
Everton for me. Their fans seem to be the decent side of Scouse Land. The team has been the under dog for as long as i can remember and, being English, that gets my interest. Under Moyes, they punch above their weight and can be dangerous opposition. Also, they aren't Liverpool.

Rio Ferdinand
Has anyone seen Rf 'pundit'? I haven't. I'm guessing he's not very insightful, or even interesting...

Rio Ferdinand
It's a real poser... :-)Good quote from the Mail: "The Ferdinand camp say...he'll have the sun on his back while he rests up..." !
-
Rio Ferdinand
Just read (Daily Mail) that, after pulling out of the England squad to care for a bad back, Ferdinand is flying (a 15 hour round trip) to Qatar to be a pundit on Al-Jazeera for tomorrow's match. Bad back?? This after he said he couldn't play so as not to "...jeopardise his treatment..." is really taking the p***.

PI have been one of those asking the above question, from the perspective of managers not wanting a damaged reputation if they are 'axed' within a short time. However, your point is well made; if managers know that they run this risk with RA, and their peers know this too, there's no damaged rep, just a satisfying pay day.

Rio Ferdinand
Apropos nothing at all, and aside from his obvious 'Simpsons' upper lip issue, whenever I see RF I think 'pikey'. He's got that 'I should be living in a caravan next to a gasometer' look about him

Hard to understand why, but there are some worrying signs at Spurs (that's worrying if you're a Spurs fan...).Bale didn't have a free rein today and it never felt, that great save against Defoe's last chance aside, like we were going to score. Something seems to have 'clicked' at Chelsea - good performance today and for long parts of the Uefa game in the week. I hope we can hold on to 4th place but am less sure than I was. B****r!

I've spent time in Ulster and echo your comments; thank God that there are still communities such as those in Ulster, and fans such as those at Linfield, for whom the word loyalty, whether to Country or club, has genuine meaning. Also remember that those communities have made massive sacrifices (i.e. the 60th Division at the Somme) to give us the freedom we enjoy today. This sounds pompous but it's b***** true.

Chelsea v Steaua Bucuresti (EL) 14/03/13 KO 20:05 GMT
As a neutral, gotta admire Hazard - class.

Rio Ferdinand
I agree with the previous comments. How does this recall take England forward?!!

Rio Ferdinand
Interesting thread this; there's complete accord. He clearly is a c***!

Rio Ferdinand
I don't like the implied 'is it cos i is black?' insinuations quoted by his supporters re the old Jt situation and whether he plays for England again. No: it's cos your too b***** old and too b***** slow.

The Spurs Chelsea thing is huge, no getting away from it. At least, as Londoners, we can share an intense disliking of the scouse *****. I reckon that, for us, Arsenal pip Chelsea to the post cos of their closeness and general air of smugness, even now when they are in decline.
