rio's actions earlier combined with the the fact that ferguson seems to be immune from any bad-press got me thinking,

what team do you despise the most and why?

The sanctimonious Man U are certainly getting up there.  First and foremost is always Tottenham, it's our duty as Chelsea fans.

not sure to be honest. tottenham are similar to the recent arsenal team in that, whilst i should hate them, their lack of success means that i usually find their recent results slightly humorous/irrelevant

Sp*ds without a doubt, as has been previously stated it is every Chelsea fans duty to dislike them with a passion, it's in our DNA.

That said, I come from a generation of Chelsea fans who grew up with this intense dislike of the pretenders from North London, the '67 cup final was one reason and I'm sure there were other contributing factors............

Being only 20, spuds have been pretty irrelevant for much of my lifetime, bar the 2008 League Cup final and Poyet kissing the cock. I understand that I should hate them the most but the smug face of Fergie and their long line of twats in their team like Cantona/Keane/Scholes/Rio/Rooney/Hernandez/RVP, as well as the fact that every 2nd person seems to support them and gives me endless sh*t whenever we lose to them, then deny even caring about football when we win, plus all the help from refs that they refuse to acknowledge and the 2008 champions league final, means I cannot help but despite United the most.

Club or actual team (as in players).

If its team then Man U by far, the list of scumbags/cheats they have stretches back longer than a queue for the Ladies Loo in a club on a Friday Night.

If its club then it has to be Spurs, Liverpool of the South but without the "history" to boot. Had a couple of good cup teams in the 70s/80s and one good year in 61 yet think they are one London's best and biggest club. The misplaced sense of superiority and arrogance is unrivalled.

I hate Arsenal but the rivalry is more healthy with them and there just isn't the same buzz with games against them anymore now a win is expected whenever we play them (they are poor now), I remember the days where we couldn't buy a win against them.

West Ham are just bitter, always have been jealous of Chelsea, misery further compounded when the prodigal son of their legend left them in the lurch for us, proved we were bigger than them even then.

QPR just non-entities with a massive inferiority complex. Seem desperate for a rivalry that just isn't there nor will it ever be.

I would say Spurs are the team I despise most but f**k Em All, f**k Em All, United West Ham Liverpool

Man U > Tottenham > QPR > Arsenal. Barca are also not far behind on mine either. Liverpool aren't on the list because my dad supports them and he always cheers on Chelsea when we play for my benefit. Although, if he didn't support them, then I would definetly hate them as well.

MAN UTD are my Despised club...Purely because A) They are so good

                                                                               B) Hate how Fergie dictates to all officials

                                                                               C) Hate their players that feel they are above the laws of football

                                                                               D) Hate their fans that call US plastics while i saw 40,000 little platic

flags being waved about v REAL Madrid...

                                                                               E-Z)...too many other reasons.

AND SPURS

Man United and Liverpool are two sides of the same coin for me, both have pretentious fans whom I cannot stand.

I'm actually quite fond of United as a club pre-Ferguson, since the infusion of Sky money they've become an abrasive behemoth though.

Arsenal amuse me, particularly the section of their fans who pontificate about the ills of modern football and trumpet themselves as some kind of shining light that harks back to the 'good old days'.

Utter bollocks, they used to be a bullying big fish but have been left behind in the 21st century.

Man Utd by a country mile, followed by Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs. I grew up ~300 miles from Manchester surrounded by arm-chair Utd and Liverpool supporters, with a few token Arsenal and Spurs thrown in.

Recent history has intensified my dislike of Man Utd even more. I have also developed a strong aversion to Barcelona in recent years.

Tottenham by a mile.

With dishonourable mentions to Man U and Liverpool, and a sneer of contempt towards QPR.

West Ham for me. Only team I have a really, really strong hatred for. United and Liverpool are more like minor irritations.

Don't have any ill will towards Spurs really, even though I guess I should. Would rather see them do well (not at our expense obviously) than United and Liverpool but that's just me personally.

As a Spuds fan, got to say top of the list is passionless, corporate Arsenal. My personal list is then Liverpool (for the wallowing sentimentality of the club and fans, and for their mawkish obsession with the past - you don't hear Bradford fans continually going on about their fire, for example). Then its Leeds Utd and Celtic. Chelsea are not high on my list but that's not a view shared by many Spuds.

Wow... Never thought I'd be agreeing with a Spuds fan (no offense) but your assessment of Liverpool is spot on. And those deluded pricks just go on and on about their beloved 'istory. What might be worse is their infatuation with the man that's currently "managing" (if you want to call it that) our squad. They cannot for the life of them understand why we never wanted him here and yet they just continue to spew utter nonsense further proving that they truly are brainless.

With that said, my top despised team is still Spuds. It just brings out a rage and anger factor that is unparalleled versus when I see other clubs (Manu, Liverpool, West Ham, Leeds, and QPR are all on that second tier of despising).

At least we seem to have found one fan that we can talk to without wanting to resort to brute force in order to get across a point. You're certainly a welcome addition Thfc.

The Spurs Chelsea thing is huge, no getting away from it. At least, as Londoners, we can share an intense disliking of the scouse *****. I reckon that, for us, Arsenal pip Chelsea to the post cos of their closeness and general air of smugness, even now when they are in decline.

Liverpool, I actually hate everything about them, and I'm a fairly laid back person.

Spuds, aren't even on my radar for dislike, I always like a laugh at just how fickle their fans are.

Tottenham by a country mile, for reasons which have been discussed at length elsewhere on this forum.

I also have a healthy hatred of West Ham, Liverpool, Leeds, Man.Utd and Septic, also hate Arsenal and Dundee United but not quite so much.

Foreign clubs? Got to be Barcelona and any club from France, plus an active dislike of Ajax, St.Pauli, Roma, Bayern, Shamrock Rovers and Galatasaray.

Liverpool for me by a considerable distance. Even though yesterday's result against Spurs suited us, it was still painful to watch the highlights of them winning on MOTD2.

Next on the list would be Arsenal & QPR. I don't really despise United as such, more a begrudging admiration for how they can remain competitive year after year. But the whole thing about refereeing decisions, and their reactions to them, is pathetic. If it goes in United's favour then it's just part of the game, evens itself out over the season and all that. If it goes against United then it's like the end of the world, it's like it's the worse thing to ever happen in football.

As for Spurs, again don't really despise them. Love beating them and generally look forward to the Chelsea-Spurs games. Much like Jonty, Spurs have been pretty irrelevant in my lifetime. Beating them seemed like a biannual tradition until recently.

All of them except Chelsea (and Bristol Rovers for nostalgia's sake)  No other exceptions.  None.  Despise them all with every fibre of my being, with Spuds being very slightly at the top of the list.
