just appeared on bbc gossip column that we are fighting with man city and barcelona over him (sry i don't have more info ;) )

tbh don't fancy our chances:

want money - go to city

want to win something - go to barcelona lol

though premier league could be the lure and we are miles apart from city in that department

would be a great signing. pace and the ability to take a player on is what we need. kalou is the only person with it at the minute

You always have to weigh his talent up against his looks. He is perhaps the ugliest man to ever make it big in football. I'm not sure that would sit well with our brand.... ;)

I think Bayern set his pricetag to 140mill or something like that. There was a story about that few weeks back.

He is arguably the best french player in the world at the moment and one of the best wingers in the world. He doesn't have silky skills or thundering strike but he has will and 'never give up' attitude. I have never seen him dive or usually when he is tackled down he tries to get up and continue. He is really agile and has great balance sort of like Messi has.

Would love to see him in the blue shirt. Although he doesn't have the looks of Beckham he probably would sell lot more shirts than most of our players.

I'm thinking he could be the first professional player to don a mask when on the pitch. Not only would this be a good move in not scaring the kids but it could also become a new profitable line in the Megastore. I think a 'Kendo Nagasaki' style thang could be the ticket

We don't have that kind of money.

of course we do. even if abramovich doesn't put his own money into the club, the business itself ten years ago was capable of generating that money, not every season, but capable nonetheless.

never mind now, with higher prices, more merchandise, a bigger global fanbase.

in addition, we're now a fixture in the champions league and the premiership tv money has become ridiculous, so much so that now there is a real incentive for clubs at the end of the season to try to finish 9th instead of 10th. add on top of that the strength of the euro- I should point out that all champions league prize money is paid out in euros.

we didn't spend a lot of money in the summer because scolari wanted two players, and took risks on two more;

if you look back to the summer he basically said he'd get malouda playing like he did at lyon, and get anelka scoring goals again. the first declaration now looks arrogant and misguided, then second he came good on. we came close to robinho and bid the sort of money you are referring to on that one player alone. but for what an insurance salesman would call an "act of god", we'd have shelled out close to £30m more than we did.

since then we've cut the wage bill a bit and recouped some money in sales. a conservative estimate would suggest that, CL qualification pending, at least £40m would be available to the manager, should he need it.

I should have been clearer. Sure, the club has money, but it's another matter whether Scolari is allowed to make any purchases with it. I don't think we will be paying anything like £25mil for a single player in the summer. The financial situation was quite different last summer and in financial sense we might have just unintentionally dodged a bullet by missing out on Robinho. It's time for a tighter budget and I'm all for it. It's just that we need to start playing the youngsters sooner rather than later.

We would never agree to a swap deal with Malouda. Ribery has shown his more arrogant side recently, calling for new players, and repeatedly refusing any commitment to fulfill his contract. He says that he wants to win the CL as fast as possible and wants the club to do anything for that. Hoeness bears with him because frankly he is the best left winger in the world (Ronaldo is crap this season). I hope that he stays with us, but in all fairness some mad bit >100 million Euros or Pounds would convince me otherwise. With that kind of money you could build up a whole new star squad.

I dont really believe any of that, but I really hope its right.

We have the ability to generate that money, but I dont think the manager is going to see a penny of it. It may have been there in the summer, but for the management fluffing it, but I dont think it is here now. Scolari had a month of the transfer window when we lost our best winger and he got Quaresma on the last day of the window on a freebee. It was a good piece of business but, to me, spoke volumes about the finances.
