abramovich
Kenyon made United into a brand name before coming to us. Arnesen was very highly rated when we snapped him up from Spuds and is still considered one of the best in the business. Bruce Buck is a long time supporter and gives away an impression of a very intelligent person. Roman obviously cares about the club and is willing to spend the money despite the fact that he's extremely unlikely to ever recover most of it. We've won everything in England and have been a permanent fixture in Europe for six seasons now and were probably the best team in the CL this whole time without actually winning it. We're located in the prestigious part of one of the best cities in Europe and our players are among the best paid around and get to train in one of the best training facilities in the world. So my point is: why the hell it seems so difficult for us to sign quality players? I pray I'm wrong but I don't feel like living through another Robinho-like saga where we'll end up looking like fools in the end.
loz
I think there needs to be a little reality check in terms of where we are in the calendar and the normal level of transfer activity at this time of year. People seem to be suggesting we are dragging our heels in the transfer market and failing to tie down deals but the truth of the matter is that it isn't even the end of June yet and it is rare for deals to be done by this time. Aside from the Ronaldo and Kaka deals (which are freak transfers) no major deals have happened for any clubs - be that Chelsea, Man Utd, Barcelona, Inter, Ac Milan etc etc etc. Players are either on holiday or on international duty or are waiting to conclude on deals because of the age old process of their current clubs and agents trying to drum up interest, transfer fees and wages. We are not being slow, we are just involved in a standard summer transfer market.
Carefree
Nope While Roman and co. play on FM09 Citeh and Madrid are signing the best players in the world. A source told me ;) *In background* Roman: Come on Peter let me sign Tevez Kenyon: No Roman, we don't need your help until after 2010 Edited June 21, 2009 by Carefree
nofizzleforshizzle
We have a team of world-class players. They wouldn't be here if it was so hard to sign them. Many of them chose us over United and other clubs.
TheWestwayWonder
You make great points as usual, Mr. A, but too add to what has already been said we made the mistake early on after Roman's takeover of being the big shots with all the cash, and are paying for it now. I admit it would be great to see us wrapping up deals asap, but as Loz says, the only ones to do that this summer so far have been clubs, like Madrid and City, who are just plunking the cash on the table and leaving it at that. The braintrust of our club have been there and are through with that. If it means they are not getting taken for a ride on every transfer, and have the money to be able to address other areas or at other times (like in the winter window this past season) then I am willing to put up with the monotony. Still got my fingers crossed for Aguero or Zhirkov to be wrapped up before too long, though

We havent been beaten to any transfers yet , its if you choose to believe what the media wants you to believe .sh*t happens , Robinho could have said no and real would have been forced to send him to us . bjd
Maybe people can start to moan if we haven't signed anyone come the end of august but acting like spoilt children just because we haven't signed a £50 million player even before the transfer window has offically opened just shows how out of control some fans expectations have now become. It's the 3rd week in June ffs.

Ruh Buh Juh
We shouldnt be signing anyone until July 1st. This. What bemuses me is that there are a lot of papers saying that Ancelotti wants X and Y, when he hasn't even properly met his squad yet?
kalpitv
This. What bemuses me is that there are a lot of papers saying that Ancelotti wants X and Y, when he hasn't even properly met his squad yet? Interesting point. I think that is the main reason behind Di Santo loan deal been put on hold until Ancelotti sees him in training. Methinks.
