Who gets the real trophy?

Featured Replies

So I am wondering where will the real Prem Trophy be on the last game of the season. If it comes down to the last game will the real trophy be at the Bridge or at Old Trafford? Or is there only one trophy? Does anyone know? ::ChELSeAFaN::

I believe they have it closest to whichever side is ahead in the league (thus favourites). Which means it'll be in or around London... whether they'll have a fake one for the mancs to look wistfully at, I'm not sure.

Thanks. It being a close race I am sure they must be scratching their heads....or will they have the real one at Old Trafford where it currently resides?

I know one year in Scotland they had the real trophy sitting in a helicopter half way between Parkhead and Ibrox, and and final whislte they took off to deliver the real one. However, Manchester and London are fair bit further apart than different parts of Glasgow

I remember going to a stadium tour at the bridge in 2005 with a mate who was visiting.

We took in the tour and got to put our hands on the PL trophy when it was on display.

The guy working there took pics etc, said the only condition was that we couldn't lift it up.

I gave it the slightest wee lift on one side just to feel the weight. He went on to explain that Joe Cole had dropped it whilst celebrating and has now dented one of the top golden bits that go in a circle at the top. It is insured for half a million I believe he said.

Thought that was quite funny.

I reckon the trophy will be flown via chopper after Sunday, onto a closer location much closer to London.

Guess I found the answer

The Premier League Trophy is 3 feet 5.5 inches (3’5â€), 22.5 inches (22.5â€) wide, and 16 inches (16â€) deep.

The trophy and crown weigh 22lbs (10KG) and the base weighs 33lbs (15KG). The total weight when it is in its case is 123.5 lbs (56 KG).

As the title race can be very close right up until the final day of the season we have a replica of the trophy. In the 2007/08 season Manchester United and Chelsea went into the final day of the season on equal points. The Barclays Premier League trophy was therefore on standby at both the DW Stadium and Stamford Bridge. The actual trophy was at the DW Stadium with an identical replica at Stamford Bridge.

Guess that solves the issue. I'm guessing the reason that Manchester had the real trophy was because they were far ahead on goal differential.
