Which Was The Most Important Win?

Featured Replies

Well, mathematically of course, every win this season was worth three points - whether it was against Birmingham or Arsenal.

Except that it isn't that simple...that's not what a close season hinges on.

We all knew that the key rival throughout the season was Man Utd.

OK, Arsenal could hang-about. And we could take a trip to “longer-shot-land†- the land of Liverpool, Spurs, Villa, and a hopeful City- and wonder if they could grab glory.

But in the end it was us versus Man U.

So given the threat of United - for me, the season-defining and pivotal-moment, was the win at Old Trafford.

The half-luck, half-brilliance- goal from Joe was probably the most important goal of the season.

The win against the scum was great - but was only important because we had won at Old Trafford.

I’m guessing that if we asked the players; “What was your most important win?†it would be the oneon that Old Trafford day.

Win at Old Trafford for me, that game really decided the fate of the champions as it was relatively close to the end - all we had to do was make sure we matched United from then on. Titles are earned over the season but the mentality after taking the lead directly from the Mancs was probably the deciding factor in my opinion. Felt good to be the ones being chased for once too. ;)

Definately OT....

It was the game that put us into the prime position, meaning it would be our title given we didn't slip up again, rather than relying on other results to go our way.

First home game of the season against Hull, we were 1-1, deep into injury time, when Drogba saved the day, we went on to win 17 home games dropping only 5 points at home all season.

The 7 0 vs Stoke, because we had lost away to Sperts and looked like we had blwon it that built belief for me.

Could argue the 0 5 away to Portsmouth and and 7 1 vs Villa after losing in CL's and drawing away to Blackburn I supose.

anyway those bounce back matches were key to me.

For me the most important win in our title winning campaign has to be the first game that we played against at home to Hull City last summer. Had we drawn that game we would have been two points behind Mancheste United, and would have been playing catch up.
