Playing just now in the game against SPain that has just kicked off. He has has a decent couple of seasons for Udinese for a young lad and has gone on record as saying he wants a move to England at some point. Not saying we should neessarily try and sign him, just saying he is worth keeping an eye on to seeif he impresses.

I was very impressed by him, too.

Apparently the Udinese sporting director has declared that only an outrageous offer would force them to sell the youngster.

Well Elton Johns suits are outrageous so i suggest we offer them several of them.

From one of Pat Nevin's World Cup Blogs:

At the last Euros it was Russia with Arshavin and Yury Zhirkov, who I thought were playing the most pleasing football and I remember writing that I hoped Chelsea would sign both. This time it might well be Chile and there are already two players standing out as being extra special. The right winger Sanchez has pace to burn and skill to spare. I was hugely impressed, particularly in the first half. Okay there was a touch of overindulgence in the second, but he is young and can learn. Learning when to release the ball is sometimes the last thing that type of player gets into his head.

That him?

Yes that is him. Liverpool are supposed to be showing a keen interest in him at the moment.

This guy has been a football manager star for me...that's where I first learnt about him.

But when I've seen him on tv, I've been suitably impressed.

Man Utd have been clocking him for ages. Will go there if he comes to Europe.

Man Utd clocked Robben for ages as well and he came to us. No reason why they will have a head start on us on Sanchez (should we be interested).

he plays for udinese at the moment so hardly an unknown to people in europe, but he's had an excellent tournament so far. with joe cole gone he's probably the kind of player we should be monitoring.

certainly, I know jose is a fan. (but he's also a fan of buying wingers then deciding he doesn't need them)

according to the NOTW Man U want him and he wants to go to Man U:

SANCHEZ HAS HEART SET ON UNITED MOVE

CHILE superstar Alexis Sanchez has his heart set on a move to Manchester United.

The Udinese winger has been forwarded as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo ever since the Portuguese icon was sold to Real Madrid.

And his performances at the World Cup have only enhanced his growing reputation, despite being surprisingly substituted against Spain.

Sanchez's sparkling form has reaffirmed Sir Alex Ferguson's interest in his services and sources close to the player claim he's dreamed of joining the Red Devils since his boyhood years.

"All Alexis wants is to play for Manchester United," revealed a Chile team-mate, who did not want to be named.

"He'd give anything for that."

Udinese insist they don't want to sell the 21-year-old, who is nicknamed 'El Nino Maravilla' (the Wonder Boy), but it's understood the wide man would jump at the chance to head for Old Trafford.

To go slightly off topic, if "El Nino Maravilla" means Wonder boy, by my reckoning "maravilla" means wonder. Therefore, Torres' nickname is "The Boy." 1) Why is it such a good thing to be called "The Boy"? and 2) I'm loving the ironic twist.
