I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about this. Or has there, and I've missed it?

Oh dear, that link didn't work. It's an article in the Fottball Supporters' Federation newsletter about the FA's plan to scrap cup replays.

I will have another attempt at linking it. Otherwise I will email it to someone cleverer than myself, who can.

Try this:

FA plan to scrap replays won't be popular

News that the FA is considering scrapping cup replays in order to appease the Premier League and implement a winter break isn't likely to go down well with fans and will do nothing to revive the competition. The reasons for the failure of England's so-called golden generation are plentiful and spoiling the FA Cup won’t solve them.

I can't see FA Cup replays being scrapped. The British football public are very conservative minded, and do not want change to their domestic game.

If they can scrap FA Cup final replays then they can easily scrap relays in earlier rounds.

I'm fine with it. It'll reduce the already congested fixture schedule, and at the end of the day, it doesn't make the competition what it is. What makes the competition what it is, is that any team can beat any other team, and that's something that's ingrained into the spirit of the entire country. Rooting for the underdog and it going down to the wire will still happen, it's just more likely to end on penalties than otherwise.
