Valerie Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Today it was announced (amongst others in the Ex thread) that Chelsea old boy Albert Ferrer has been appointed manager of Dutch "eredivisie" club Vitesse from Arnhem. I'm curious to see how he will do, because he has no managerial experience to speak of. Welcome to my country, Chappie!
Scott Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 That's a big club for his first job. Good luck Chappie.
Maverick Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Tough job ahead for the man since Vittese currently find themselves in the danger zone.

Eggy McMuffin Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Really? Wonder how our boys are doing. Delac doesnt seem to be getting any matches? He's their second choice goalkeeper right now, so he is just spending his time warming the bench... his chance will come, though.

Matic has featured for them week in and out and has been consistent though nothing flashy. Whereas Rajkovic too seems to be a regular when fit. They lost to PSV by 2 goals at home last night.

Thats pretty pointless isnt it? Sending him on loan just to be second choice. If the first choice keeper doesnt get injured or something, he'd end up staying on the bench for the whole season, wont he?
moi Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I keep thinking this thread is about a bloke who offers to pay half the bill...

I'm not entirely sure what the reasoning was behind the move, but hopefully he can force his way into a few appearances, and possibly the number one spot.
disillusion Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 A decent away points against Nijmegen is not bad for a debut. Our boys Matic and Rajkovic played the whole game. Bit worried about Delac as he wasnt even on the bench. Actually planning to go dutch myself for a long weekend in december and was planning to go to Vitesse vs Ajax game to see our boys myself. Flying to Amsterdam on Wednesday 8th December and planning to fly back to London after the match. Val, as you are local, do you know which airport is the best to catch form Arnhem? Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Dusseldorf(Weeze)? Or any other? Cheers

I looked up a few things for you, assuming you will be travelling by train from the airport, and not rent a car. From Eindhoven to Arnhem: can have 1 to 2 changes (in 's Hertogenbosch, a.k.a. Den Bosch; another one in Utrecht), depending on the time of departure it takes between 1.20 hours or 1.35 hours. A single is 14.30 euros. Lots of trains every hour, but some of those connections make you change twice. From Schiphol to Arnhem: 2 direct trains per hour (trip of 1.1 hours), another 2 with change at Utrecht (1.16 hours). Price for a single is 15.50 euros. From Dusseldorf: I'm pretty much in the dark here, there are many possibilities, depending on your connection it takes between 1.10 hours and 2.50 hours. The price of a single depends on what kind of train you're on, it's anywhere between 24 and 36 euros, or so I gather. Two hours before kick-off there are free buses for ticketholders from Arnhem station to the stadium Gelredome. Return buses until 1,5 hours after the match. So I'd say see to where you can fly for the lowest price, and take it from there.

Or watch it in an airport bar :P Did some research and will probably go to Dusseldorf Weeze airport as there are buses running every hour basically from the stadium to the airport and the journey is only 1h.
Valerie Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 A decent away points against Nijmegen is not bad for a debut. BTW, Chappie doesn't start in his new managerial job until mid-November. That point was earned without him...
