That picture of Webb v Spurs was the game we lost 2-0 in a monsoon , in front of an extraordinary crowd of over 61,000 !!

Absolutely mullered them , couldn't believe we lost , Mullery scored a rocket up in front of the North Stand end. They scored 2 very late goals.

There was a bit of stuff in that corner before the night game over there when hammers were near top of table. We scored 2 goals at our end, Nevin got one ? Big crowd that night too

Brief highlights of that 2-1 away win in 1986. 😀

I remember setting off early for Upton Park on New Years Day 1985, I got as far as Victoria only to learn the match was postponed due to the pitch, or more accurately half of it, being frozen. Bates told the media he thought Wet Spam deliberately left the pitch uncovered to get the match postponed. Cue to head to the pub for New Year’s refreshments.

I was on the way to that game as well when it got called off. On the same day Arsenal played Spurs at Highbury. A couple of days later I spoke to an Arsenal fan who was at Highbury and he told me that some Chelsea and West Ham fans got into the Clock End and ganged up on the Spurs supporters.

Was indeed. I was behind the goal when Pat scored with a header. Great cross from Kerry for Pat's goal.

Same here. We drove over there from South London. We actually put our AtoZ map away a few miles from the ground in case their fans cottoned onto us being Chelsea !! . That's what it was like back then though wasn't it, imagination running wild !!

I think back then it was individual games that meant everything to us . ( In the long trophies) absence The Arsenal game first game of season for example and others. I remember when we won fa cup di.matteo goal. Afterwards someone said, " this feels great , but does it feel any better than when we came back to beat Bolton at the Bridge ( big Sam og) .( Hope I've got that correct) !

And I think he was right !!
