Was he our best Scottish player ever or was it somebody else?

I'm going with Charlie Cook.

Clarke was a good dependable player and if I remember correctly was recruited by Jose as he wanted someone who knew the club. I'm with you about Charlie being our best ever Scottish player.

Steve Clarke certainly did a good solid job for us.

Charlie Cooke or Wee Pat as our best ever Scottish player. In my humble opinion.

Top three agreed, distinguished runners up John Spencer and Joe McLaughlin, and candidates for bottom two Burley & Fleck?

I’d suggest Eddie Mac would be a very honourable mention for the top Scot. Certainly top 5 if we’re going that much in depth!

Good shout re Burley and Fleck.

Good shout re Burley and Fleck.

In fact Burley gets the wooden spoon following his appalling performance in the Cup semi final at Villa Park against Manure in 96. He regularly bad mouths CFC on the radio.

A crazy night. Can't believe it was forty years ago.FB_IMG_1763810271372.jpg

And what a night it was; I often wonder if the bloke who chased Walker across the pitch (John Leftley?) is on here?

The Great Man.

His spell at the club was too early for me though courtesy of my Mum buying the Daily Mail in the 80s, Dixon and Speedie were nearly always on the back pages and the seeds were sown for me to become a fan.

Looking back I get the feeling John Neal's team might be compared to that great Brazil team that played great football yet won nothing, you know with players like Socrates.
