September 17, 20196 yr Wednesday, 17th Sep 1947 at 6pm. This was a 3-2 win for us in front of 31,444 spectators. The Chelsea debut of Jimmy Bowie. He scored two goals on his debut too. Our other goal scorer was Tommy Lawton. When I was a youngster, living in the same street. There was an older man of the same name, Jimmy Bowie, who had played down in England. This Jimmy Bowie was a Scot who cost £25 when he joined us from an Aberdeen Junior side in 1944. I don't think it was him unfortunately. Sorry for being so long winded !
