loz Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hli ... +SWP+talks If this transfer goes through we surely need to either buy a new winger or take a chance on youth. Just having Robben (when he is fit) is nowhere near enough.
Tim W Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I expect Boulahrouz or Essien to play on the wing and then Paulo or Wayne when JT is fit. Apparantly Carlo puts in a mean cross too.

Just having Robben (when he is fit) is nowhere near enough. What winger in our youth/reserve team do we have that is ready to play for the first team? I'm not an expert on our youths/reserves so I can't think of any besides perhaps Elmer but I doubt he's ready. Bridge can be used to the left and I wouldn't mind trying that out a few times. But besides him we only have Kalou and Robben. We need another winger. Someone good but not too expensive. Camoranesi perhaps?
loz Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 no No NO NO NO!! No left backs at left midfield/wing!!! That is a thing of great horror! As for who we have in the reserves who can play on the wing, well to be honest as far as I know the answer is not a lot. Elmer can but is still more of a full back. There is a Danish lad called Weihrauch who has played out wide but I have not seen too much of him as he has not been with us that long and had an injury for the first while. Having said that I don't see so much of the reserves now that I odn't have Sky so there will be other in a better place to comment.
undertow Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 sinclair usually plays on the left side of the attacking trio in 433.
loz Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 Apparently SWP has turned down the chance to go to West Ham -hardly a surprise - the Championship is not an attractive proposition
dkw Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 ive heard he doesnt want to leave chelsea permanently. he wouldnt mind a loan deal till the end of the season. but he still thinks hes good enough to make it. good on him. im not sure if he will make it but at least hes gonna try. unlike parker who bottled it.

I guess we have to give him credit for not giving up. I just hope that he can improve and show us that we didn't buy him for all that money for nothing
loz Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 Well he isn't necessarily staying yet. newcastle and Villa are also said to be interested but only as a loan deal rather a permanent transfer. I would tell them to sod off - either they buy him or he stays with us - no more free lunches!

The Moos Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 SS.com saying he's turned them down. SS.com - A german site?
Loud and Proud Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 He's turned down West Ham because i doubt he'll want to be forever blowing bubbles in the championship and i cant remember where i heard it but apparently he doesn't want to leave London, so Villa and Newcastle don't seem likely.
loz Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 but apparently he doesn't want to leave London, so Villa and Newcastle don't seem likely. All of hs family have relocated to the South now that he is at Chelsea and his brother is at Southampton. Apparently this is the main reason he doesn't want to go North again (which is why a move to City is unlikely).
Gem Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Well with Lennon signing a new 5 & 1/2 year deal with Spuds, I can't see him going there. Charlton & West Ham extremely unlikely. Fulham? Probably not. Arsenal? I could see it, depends if they put in a realistic bid. However, he is cup tied, for all 3 competitions.
loz Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 However, he is cup tied, for all 3 competitions. Shouldn't be a problem for Liverpool for too much longer - maybe he will go North after all

TomP Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I don't think that SWP is ever going to be a first team regular for us, and he future probably lies elsewhere. But, it would be verging on madness to sell him off now - unless there is some kind of serious problem that we don't know about. With Robben and Cole out, it would leave us with a 19-year old as our only winger.
canbeas Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 eggert magnusson, the west ham chairman has denied that swp turned west ham down. he also denied that talks between the club and swp had begun. but west ham have made a bid for the player.
