Hi guys,

Hopefully the pictures I took from the East Stand sometime in the 1980's will download this time. I think the game may have ended 3-2 to Chelsea but I can't remember-any ideas

Great pictures Chels78,we always had a good 'ol set to with Sheffield w**ksday back then, if I remember correctly.

One question though, were those pictures taken from the East stand middle tier?.

I was bang in the middle of the west stand that day. I always thought the gate was fiddled that day the gate was put as 35,147 i dont know where you would get another 9,400 in the ground. Is that empty benches next to the shed or are my eyes going. You can see Sheff Wed in section 3 they had about the same in section 4 about 3,500 id say so the gate had to be over the 35,147 that was given at least 37,000

Mickey Thomas debut where he got 2 goals Chelsea went 3 0 up for it to end 3 2.

I'm jealous of you!.

I've always wanted to watch one game from the East stand middle tier,(still do in fact!).

As I was fiscally challenged at the time..............i.e. skint,(nothing changes),I never got the chance.

You must have been minted.

It's the only part of today's stadium that's remained pretty much unchanged in over 35 years & I always thought it must give a great view of the game.

Worst way, if you're were lucky to sit close enough, you could have flicked peanuts at old Batesy!.

Quality pics mate, as you can see from my old pics & vids thread i love pics ect from the 70s/80s ect, have you anymore you ca

I might have another one of the Shed from that game, but i will need to look it out as it was not with the ones I've posted when I came across them

. I took the picture with my pride and joy at the time which was my cannon SLR camera. I only risked taking it to the Bridge that day because for once I was not going to be in the shed and it was not in danger of being totalled in the crush. The only other photos I have are more recent with the advent of the camera phone

it was a rare match for me in the stands-perhaps I had a tax rebate at the time or something lol.

Close enough to Batesy to have got him with an electric cattle prod -well he did want to electrocute us with his electrified fence at one time and was only thwarted by the GLC as I remember

I always wanted to take a camera to Chelsea, but owing to the vigorous nature of my support in those days it would doubtless have been smashed to bits.

Also always wanted to take a tape recorder to record the Shed in full voice from within, but never did for the same reason.
