I went to university in Glasgow 25 years ago, used to go to plenty games across the city as a neutral, back in those days there was an alcohol ban in the stadiums, so people used to inject oranges with vodka and take them in.

As everyone piled out after games, all you could see was the terraces covered in orange skins.

Can i recommend 15 Storeys High written and starring Chelsea fan Sean Locke. It was put on at ridiculous times and never got
the audience it deserved. All two series are on You Tube or it's about a fiver to buy online. Favourite episode is series 1 episode 5 with the late great Felix Dexter. But if your sort of comedy is The Vicar of Dibley or Keeping Up Appearances this won't be for you.

Funnily enough, no. I wish I'd asked him about that, though!

I actually had a brief read of the official club history in the Megastore. Well, I had a read of a two-page feature on the time Bayern got to play in a CL final on their home ground and lost. Again, it was full of loads of digs about us as a club, Abramovich's money, our style of play. All very enjoyable. Especially the quotes from Rumenigge and Hoeness saying it was even worse than losing to ManU in 1999 and that they'd never get over the disappointment.

Good I hope we stay. Keep some of the clubs identity. How any true supporter could want to move is beyond me.

the CPO have long been protecting the interests of Chelsea and Stamford Bridge. i trust those members to do what is right, as loyal, long-standing supporters. if they felt there wasnt a strong enough case for moving, or that the proposal wasnt good enough then i trust them in that decision. Its one of the few occassions where fans get a voice in important matters at our football club, and we should back those fans 100%. God knows enough of us moan when we dont get a say in what goes on, so why criticise those who stand up for us when they are allowed a vote? (Not a dig at you personally enders, just a general point!)

Something iconic well good luck with that. Let's not forget what the name of this forum is. And if we move to our bigger stadium with it's super corporate facilities will we be sitting in the Waitrose end shouting Harrod's Harrod's give us a song.

As much as you  can say that the no vote was not in the best interests of Chelsea I can say the opposite. It's an opinion and time will tell. As a CPO I voted no for a number of reasons.

With regard to the commercial side of things it would have been very simple to get a CPO to vote yes for example:
Don't try to bribe me with a named brick.
Don't try to gerrymander the vote by buying up shares.
Automatically transfer ownership of the new ground pitch etc. to the CPO.
Allow the CPO to influence the design of the stadium. ( My own personal preference was a large youth area called The Shed with a maximum ticket price for the next x number of years.)
Agree a set of circumstances which the CPO would vote on which result in a yes vote. Thus provided those circumstances were met the commercial side was not impacted upon. Since then nothing has been done to facilitate such an agreement which the CPO could vote on regarding a move away from SB. I wonder why but see no point in spending time thinking about that.

What was clear to me was that the commercial side saw an opportunity to own a prime piece of real estate which would more than fund a new stadium. No problem with that but remember our perspective comes from loving the club which includes it's history. Their perspective is all about money. Do you fancy going to watch Chelsea playing at home somewhere, anywhere. Plenty of places that come cheaper than West London.
I was not surprised that they didn't offer us a share in the surplus funds as opposed to a brick. Perhaps that would have come later.
Unlike other clubs the CPO gives supporters/fans of the club a real and influential voice. Ask Wimbledon/Cardiff fans how they feel.

As for the most recent news; this is just a study. It shows willing but may lead to a cul de sac. Expansion of capacity is absolutely necessary from a financial perspective (FFP) and if we leave SB so be it. It is not the same as it used to be, that went a long time ago so a purpose built stadium may be the only solution. My personal preference is near where I live but since that is about 150 miles from SB that might not go down too well.

Yes Battersea would have been iconic and a potentially glorious location in Chelsea heartland. The CPO were underestimated and treated with complete disrespect. Hence the shambles that ensued. If I were RA I would have considered removing the person responsible for that debacle. A yes vote could easily have been obtained for Battersea.

Like Carshalton I too am a little weary of defending the CPO position. I have grown used to the modern demands for instant satisfaction by the fans and supporters of Chelsea FC.
For me the CPO has only in mind the LONG TERM future of Chelsea FC.

If only for the CPO I thank Bates for that.

Your spot on mate, to be honest I was going to reply but after feeling like ive had to defend myself & other CPO holders over & over on various forums I couldn't be arsed.

End of the day we all voted NO in the interests of our beloved Chelsea, we had nothing to gain ourselves from a NO vote, the way Chelsea & the suits went about the whole process helped make our minds up.

With all due respect how do you know what my reason or other CPO's reasons were who voted no?
Ive said all along including on this forum, i'd back a move to Battersea/Earls Court if it was done right, i'd never agree to a move to Old Oak Common though.

When I said it was in Chelsea's interest I meant from my own point of view, voting no was the right thing to do imo at the time & I still stand by that.
There's no way I was going to vote yes if there was a slight chance we could be moved outside the area, I bought the share to stop that & help protect the club/SB so in my mind voting no was justified.
The problem is on various Chelsea forums especially the official chat page, us No voters get vilified as if it was a selfish act when in fact it was far from that, the same people who dig us out would be the same people crying in their beer if the club moved to Guilford for example.

Chelsea's top brass made a right balls up of the whole process, if they'd handled it differently I might have voted yes.

If we leave the bridge then that's me done. If we get a 55,000 stadium it will mean an extra 13,000 middle class tosspots who are willing to pay top dollar just to sit there motionless and applaud politely for ninety minutes.
