remember him? the next star of the world game, who was supposedly wanted by everyone, including us, and said he would play for anyone...well he's now at MLS side Philadelphia Union after failing to make the grade in Europe...still can't believe he's only 22

I'm not sure I believe he's 22, to be honest.

At any rate, I never understood the appeal of Adu. I'd constantly hear Americans talking up how good he is, then I'd watch him play and wonder if it was the same player. His physical tools have always seemed lacking and while he probably did think the game fairly well for his age, he wasn't exceptional in that aspect of the game either.

Close relation to Kakuta I suspect! At least it was only Chelsea fans who hyped up Kakuta though, Adu was hyped up by the entire world ith the help of Nike and Championship Manager strategists (G4 and Pauly had posters of him on their bathroom walls)

I remember seeing him at the U-17 World Championships in 2003 and he was one of, if not THE star of the tournament, although he was only 14(or that's what they said). That was the last time I've been impressed when I've seen him play, though.
