Italy 1 England 2

First let me say Pauly will be suicidal.

"Woy's Warriors" go to the white hot cauldron that is the Stade de Suisse w**kdorf and destroy the European Championship Runners Up Italy in their own back-yard! Well, their next door neighbour's back yard.

We leave out Terry and Rooney, play a proper right-back and look what happens. Total Football. Even Milner played like Pirlo when he came on.

Just read that FIFA have moved us up to number three in the world rankings and we must surely be genuine contenders for Rio 2014?

Personally I think this is massive a step forward for English football. Just look at what Mark Lawrensen had to say about it after the game;

"I think this is a massive step forward for English football"

Bertrand just didn't look fazed...he really is something special so I hope we give him a lot of games this season even though ash is still no.1...if we follow the logic of fifa rankings, beating italy means we should drop a few places now

Actually, you'll rise above Germany and probably take #2 in the rankings. England is currently #3, right?

Germany lost to Argentina 1-3, and went down to 10 men after 30 minutes. I won't hijack this thread and go into the rant of that match.

The English media have gone nuts over this result, front and back pages. This is typical from The Sun;

"... some of England's passing and movement was reminiscent of Brazil '70"

I particularly like the reactions in these articles from some of the major names in world football;

"Mein Gott! Vos ist das veally Ingerlund?" ............ Franz Beckenbauer

" I thoughts that were proper f*cking good that were".............. Ian Holloway

" Bugger"................................. Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini

"Wot you looking at? You want some?"................... Joey Barton

"I can see Hodgson getting a knighthood for this" .... Garth Crooks

" I didn't see it"................ Arsene Wenger
