Bobby Zamora Doesn't Like Football

What a plank. I wonder if he liked football when he was pushing for regular England calls, i bet he loved it then. But now things are getting tough he doesn't like it, what a baby. If i was QPR i would never play him again, how can you play a player that doesn't care anymore ?

I think they're making a story out of nothing (shocking I know). He's basically saying that football doesn't consume every second of his life and that he doesn't watch it in his free time. What's the big deal? I guarantee he's not the only footballer that feels that way. I remember Assou-Ekotta saying something similar a few years back. Something along the lines of football being just a job to him and nothing more.

I'd rather have the players talk honestly about what they're thinking rather than spout the usual clichéd nonsense.

I recall reading something similar in Stan Collymore's autobiography. Stan was on the team bus whilst playing for Forest (I think) and he put on a video of great football goals. One of the other players (a journeyman defender who probably wouldn't make it as a top flight player today) told Stan to turn it off. His reasoning was that he played football all week and didn't particularly want to watch it on the team bus. Stan couldn't quite fathom how a footballer couldn't appreciate seeing Marco Van Basten score an overhead kick.

I guess that is just the way it is. Some players are genuine football fans as well as players.....and others are merely good at it and aren't too fussed.

No issue here. It would be naive to expect all footballers to love their job and I'm sure a (small) percentage see it as a means to an end. Fair play to Zamora for admitting it.

Those that are shocked by this would do well to read Andre Agassis brilliant bio - he pretty much loathed and resented what he did for a living.
