Why not Higgy ?

Featured Replies

It is quite clear by now, that no top striker is joining us this season. No Lewandowski, no Falcao, no Cavani, no Suarez.

Why is nobody talking about Higuain? The guy is only 25 and has a good scoring record despite sharing striking duties with Benzema and the sensational Ronaldo all the while. He comes with a good PR and has has good work ethics. He's a proper number nine and will fit well with our wide wingers.

Why not go for him? We can surely outbid Wenger's 23 million.

It is pretty clear that Torres is no good, and Lukaku is too much of a gamble for an entire season.

Buy him and get a centre defensive cover for Terry/Cahill. We should be as good as anybody in the Premier League, if not Europe.

If Jose isn't requesting him then he's got his reasons. We don't know for certain either, we signed Mata out of the blue so don't be surprised if we scoop up a striker we weren't even linked to.

yeah, thats my thinking too. jose has just worked with him for a few years and knows he`s available, yet isnt interested from what we have seen so far. There must be a reason.

I have said having missed out on our main 3 targets i'd much rather Higuain than being linked to Rooney but i read somewhere that JM reckons he's one of the laziest players he has ever worked with.

But he still gave him a fair amount of playing time especially when you consider Madrid are'nt short of attacking options so could this be a smoke screen to put off Wenger.....who knows.

Or it could be a case of theres one thing using a player at you disposal(Higuain was already at Madrid) and another going out and making that player your big summer signing!

Could be that because Arsenal have already agreed a fee Chelsea don't want to get involved.

Could be that Jose doesn't rate him or doesn't think he will suit the system he intends to use at Chelsea.

Could be that the board don't see him as value for money.

Take your pick basically.

He's not consistent or effective enough in my opinion - if/when Arsenal sign him I am certainly not going to be scared. In terms of numbers his scoring may look good but his record isn't a world away from Torres' - the vast majority of his goals come against lesser opponents or in blowouts. He certainly has good games every so often but there are more occasions (at least in my experience of watching him) where he is totally ineffective.

He would be a different alternative to Ba and Lukaku, but not necessarily a superior one.
