  1. Maksimov some good and valid answers and when im not lag boat and on my phone i will attempt to respond but in all honesty i dont disagree with anything u have said plus i am not actually anti goal line tech on its own. but I think u have misunderstood where I'm coming from on this issue. I said if tech comes in it should be for goal line and goal line alone. My fears are once this can of worms opens it won't stop. This season hasn't even kicked off and how many posts on here alone have we had with people asking about offsides, corners, penalties etc etc. I think in the grand scheme of things the costs are irrelevant, my real concerns are where it's going to end and I think if u read some of the responses on here you have to agree that potentially this could get out of hand mate and ruin our great game. Like I said I won't dissect ur response which has totally valid arguments to it and some I totally agree with plus u totally got me on the back pass rule cos I played full back for some teams and midfield for others so I was comfortable In possession so i wanted the ball off the keeper where others didn't. I liked the back pass rule and agree seeing teams play out games with keepers rolling it out and getting it back was toilet to watch and easy for crap footballers. However the tennis argument was rubbish, of course a goal means a million times more than a serve but it terms of value for money regarding hawk eye that technology is a must for the correct outcome of a game of tennis it is a luxury for football that may never even be used let alone affect the result. My concerns are once it comes in, we will soon see it be used everywhere for everything and I don't want to go there.
  2. I am a bit unsure about the use of technology in football. I for one like a bit of human error, after all we are human. I think a bit of controversy adds to the excitement and certainly gives people something to talk about after the game. I think the game we love is great as it is thats why we all love it. I dont like it when they tamper with rules or experiment with this and that, just leave well alone. Things tend to even themselves out as they say anyway, i can think of goals that went for us and goals that didn't. In my eyes its all part of 'having a bit of luck on the day'. Having said that, if they bring it in it should be for this and this alone, I agree with Bluehatter they could ruin football if they keep stopping the game. I'm not sure if this is a trial run or a now permanent fixture does anybody know? I can see where Stim is coming from regarding costs. I know people will mention other sports but if you take something like tennis and consider how important a serve is and a service game and how many serves there are in a match. Deciding whether or not a serve is in is pretty significant and 100% necessary. If however Scudamore says there were 31 incidents last year, how many games were those spread over about 400. Out of those 31 incidents how many did they get wrong?? 5,10, all 31? Its not exactly a this is happening everyweek situation is it? I'd rather see the money put into grass roots football than a gadget on a goal post, but then again maybe i'm just a technophobe. I'm typing this on my commodore 64. P.S, FIFA,UEFA and FA's dont seem to know what to spend there money on. Other than pointless jounts around the world. They remind me of local council's. you know when its coming up to April and they know that if they dont spend all there budget they wont get allocated the same budget the following year so they just start spending it on pointless crap like signs telling you were the sky is and things like that , sorry rant over.
  3. This has definitely kicked Utd up the plums, both the club and fans. First was the 'dirty tricks campaign' regarding our players in the press. Now the club keep digging up old players harping on about once you leave Utd the only way is down blah, blah, blah. The same could have been said about many clubs in the past but power shifts. I'm not suggesting we are more powerful but the fact we now appear a more attractive proposition to not only foreign players but players already on Utd's books as started to ruffle a few feathers now at Old Trafford like we know it has for the last decade at Anfield. It wasn't to long ago that a move from Arsenal to Chelsea would have been seen as a step down but try telling Ashley Cole that. Things change, and those especially in the established order dont like it. The fans on the other hand are hedging their bets. One half say he's rubbish and past his best and if he leaves its only cos we didn't want him, while others say he's worth £40m plus players and would never leave us for another Prem team etc etc. Obviously depending on what eventually happens those same fans will conveniently fall into which ever camp then suits most while swearing blind this had been there stance the whole time. Typical really from the vast majority of their fans.
  4. I agree with most of the comments so far. A combination of us being a successful and ambitious club, we pay our players well and offer them some of the best facilities in world football and are based in one of the best area's in one of the best cities in the world. On a slightly different point as fans I think we are a lot more respectful to past players and managers than most. You have to have done something pretty bad to the club to get a bad reception when you return to the bridge but compare that to the treatment say someone like Lampard receives everytime we play the hammers. Considering he gave his all for them, his Dad and Uncle were club legends and his transfer fee reportedly dug them out of a massive hole you think they might show some respect. Although i've always compared that scenario to a bitter jilted ex who never appreciated what they had till it was gone.
  5. This has nothing to do with Torres in particular just some of the comments being made about where our goals may come from next season and I would rather have 6-8 players all getting double figures, both attacking midfielders and forwards than one forward getting 40 goals. Then your a dangerous team with a threat from all over which is far harder to stop rather than a dangerous player.
  6. I'm not disappointed by it but I am getting very bored of it now. I just want the season to start and all these silly stories to stop. They should definitely close the window before the season starts IMO.
  7. I remember Joe Cole gave an interview recently where he said in his first Q&A session after signing from Chelsea he was asked 'whats it like to be joining the biggest club in the world' to which he replied quite naturally as you would to your new employer , ' I'm looking forward to getting myself fit and trying to do my best when playing for the club'. The headline the next day read something like 'Joe Cole cant wait to play for the biggest club in the world after leaving Chelsea'. It was'nt till he left the club that he put the record straight and said 'I never said that, he kept wording the questions biggest club this and biggest club that, and i didn't want to say wait a minute Liverpool aint even the biggest club in England let alone the world because I hadn't even kicked a ball for them at that stage'. How sad are they really, how very very sad.
  8. agree, and when Fergie coined the phrase 'squeeky bum time' he wasn't talking about an opening day away trip to Swansea was he. Moyes on the other hand will be cacking his pants for 3points there.
  9. Its now being reported that senior utd players have told Moyes they dont want Rooney in the team and to sell him. Ooops, can you imagine anyone telling Fergie who to pick? And so it begins, this could be a loooong season for Moyes and utd. Aint that right FightMeThen???? The worrying thing for utd fans is given all the noises coming out of Old Trafford about Moyes they wont be shot of him overnight so it could be a long slow decline for the Mancs and some including our trolling friend know it.
  10. With your biggest fakest manchester accent of course.
  11. No, he just forgot to tap his head with the other hand!
  12. I have said this before but i dont see how Rooney would sell 'MORE' shirts. Yes there may be many fans who have Rooney on their shirts but would that shirt not have been sold anyway? Does Rooney have a worldwide fan club? In this country fans are club affiliated not player and i dont think Rooney would bring in any new fans. If someone in China had a Chelsea kit with Torres on last year and this year he has Rooney whats the difference? Its still a Chelsea shirt that would have been sold anyway its just the name on the back thats changed but Net shirt sales hasn't so he has'nt generated any new revenue.
  13. Thats a lovely goal, I think Oscar is a fantastic player. I've seen him for Brazil and i think he's better than Neymar. Anyway getting back to the formation and starting 11 discussion i think its great the amount of options we have. The best thing though is having a manager who is able to use them. It will be horses for courses, different formations and personell depending on the opposition. If were taking a 2 goal lead to the San Siro in the CL quarters we will be set up differently than we would Palace at home in the Prem. I cant wait, really excited we have a fantastic young hungry squad and a manager capable of using it. In Jose we trust.
  14. This price for Rooney seems to be creeping up, some papers are saying £40m now. I know its only paper talk and most probably nonsense but I had reservations at £25m.
