May 26May 26 Odsal Park stadium. Bradford City played there after the stadium fire.1954 , over 100,000 Halifax v Warrington ( I think) Looks like a huge grass bank at the top separate from the stadium itself.

May 29May 29 The Crystal Palace Stadium with the Grandstands still in place is bottom left in this aerial photo from 1928.And two reasonable (ish) comparison pictures, taken in I think the late 1980sI grew up with it being the home of British Athletics in the 1970s and 1980s.

The two iconic water towers at Crystal Palace were demolished in 1940 and 1941. Originally built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel to feed the park's elaborate fountains, the North and South towers were taken down to prevent the German Luftwaffe from using them as navigational landmarks during the Blitz Edited May 30May 30 by The Rising Sun Information
May 31May 31 Footage of Davie Cooper against Brazil at Hampden in May 1987. This wasn’t a Cooper Masterclass. For Scotland, that was against Spain at Hampden in November 1984.However, it’s good footage of him at the very end of his best ever season for Rangers. 1986-87.
May 31May 31 Johan Cruyff scoring against Athletico Madrid in 1973-74.And playing for Feyenoord(!) in 1983-84.
May 31May 31 The Rest of the World squad which played England at Wembley in 1963. The game was to mark the centenary of the founding of the Football Association.

Before that, we used to use The Tooting Bec Athletics arena.. sadly the Crystal Palace site was becoming neglected when I lived in South London, the Olympic sized swimming pool was still in use though, with its under water spectator viewing windows, although if it's still in use anyone looking up at the swimmers these days would probably be arrested. ! ( The pool is the greenish rectangular building to the right of the stadium) .the tall TV mast is at the top of the picture and there's a miniture "Hollywood bowl" thing somewhere in the vicinity where they hold concerts but I can't see it . June 3Jun 3 I used to use the Crystal Palace sports centre back in the day.Used the 50m pool and shocked a club swimmer at 15 when we drew over the 50ms, he asked what club I went to and was shocked when I replied I didn't go to one.I practised dry slop skiing one year for my only skiing holiday.Played squash there and used the gym at times though it got busy so I started going to others like the Wolf Pit in Hayes. My daughter visited 2 years back and one day we spent going around the old areas and I took her there and like @The Rising Sun it was very run down though the Pool was there and on the ground floor they still had a working gym.

First time I went I somehow managed to put my ski boots on the wrong feet! The dry slope the worst thing I ever did because after a few lessons I was confident, but a week later I was terrified at how different it was on a real ski slope in France. .Good to hear the swimming pool is still in use
