Tossing the coin just before kick off Rangers v Dundee. 25th April 1964 Scottish Cup Final.Rangers won a great match 3-1. It has gone down as a legendary Scottish Cup Final.

120,982 was the official attendance! The packed Hampden North Terracing would indicate many more than that figure were actually in attendance. The official capacity of Hampden in April 1964 was 134,000!

Two weeks earlier on 11th April 1964. 133,245 officially saw the Scotland v England game at Hampden.

There was no way either game had less than the official capacity.

I just wonder if they didn’t include the two Stands in these figures. And it is ‘rumoured’ many a person would slip a turnstile operator some cash at these big games to allow them access. Allegedly.😀

Of course we have to include The Baseball Ground !😀 Derby v Wolves, FA Cup in January 1971.

A few muddy and rain soaked pitches. Ach, why not?😀

Have to include this one. The RW Essen against Borussia Moenchengladbach, Bundesliga, 1969/1970.

Please feel free to add more ‘muddy and or wet pitches’! 😀😀

The England goal under a Scottish attack at Hampden. April 1950. The England No 2 is Alf Ramsay.

Officially 133,250 (for the true attendance add probably 30-35,000) saw ‘our’ Roy Bentley score the only goal of the game. England went to the World Cup as winners of the Home Internationals.

Scotland finished second, but unbelievably (then and now) the SFA had somehow decided theat Scotland would go if they won the Home International Championship!

No spaces at all on the Hampden terraces as Denis Law scores against England in April 1966. England won 4-3 .

123,052 officially saw it. Add probably 35,000-40,000 for the true attendance! Seriously!!

And another couple of photos above of the April 1966 game.

That's Dennis Law ? Looks like him, especially the height he's got up to and the header

Yeah that’s Dennis Law. Scoring the first goal for Scotland. He was a great header of a ball.

Here he is in action again during the same match.

The Stadio Nazionale del PNF in Rome.

It was the venue for the 1934 World Cup Final. When 55,000 spectators saw Italy beat 2-1 Czechoslovakia 2-1 in extra time.

It was built in 1911 and renovated in 1928. It served as a multi-purpose venue until its closure in 1953. It eventually made way for the Stadio Flaminio.
