The ‘return friendly’ was played in late March 1974 in Frankfurt with West Germany winning 2-1.

60,000 spectators in attendance.

I’ve been in both 58,000 and 90,000 crowds at Hampden.

Judging by the footage and photos from the game. It was a 90,000 crowd!

It might be Carlos Alberto. I’ve checked the ‘Cosmos Roster’ for 1977 and Carlos Alberto is No 25.

A wet day and virtually no cover ,for these East German spectators watching Locomotive Leipzig beating Union Berlin 5-1 during 1985-86.

The Zentralstadion in Leipzig which had a capacity of 120,000. It was opened on 4th August 1956. It closed in 2000.

Renamed the Red Bull Arena. Home to RB Leipzig. It was rebuilt between 2000-2004 at a cost of €116 million. It has a capacity of 47,500 for League matches and 45,228 for internationals.

The second picture was certainly not taken at Zecentral Stadion in Leipzig. The terraces are far too small!

The Rudolf Harbig Stadion was home to Dynamo Dresden.

It was named after a brilliant German runner, who set World Records at 400m, 800m and 1000m. He was killed on the Eastern Front in March 1944.

Hampden Park back in the day. Not sure of the year. My paternal grand-father was there for a game between Scotland and England when there was just under 150,000 in the ground. Still the record for an official attendance at a match in the U.K. I say official as it is estimated that there was nearly 200,000 for the 1923 FA Cup Final.

Hampden is a ‘bit quieter’ for this game between Queens Park and Raith Rovers in 1960.
