Yes, Yashin in goal. Here's a link showing the teams. Two of the best strikers to come from the U.K.: Greaves and Law. Two Scots, Law and Baxter, in the Rest of the World team. If a Rest of the World team were picked today sadly there would be no Scottish players. How things have changed. Look at all the great Scottish players who have played for Chelsea.

Sport, Football, Berlin, Germany, 15th May 1938, Germany Select XI 2 -3 Aston Villa 15th May 1938.

Aston Villa goalkeeper, Biddlestone dives to save in a controversial friendly match.

Germany, having annexed Austria, fielded nine Austrian internationals in the side and the Aston Villa players refused to give the Nazi salute before the game.

This was contrary to the England team, who had played Germany one day earlier and who gave the salute before the start of the game, but had refused to play against any Austrians in the German team.

1975 West Ham v United. Crowds crushed. Fans escape onto the pitch .Good job there were no fences to hold them back.

If I remember, apart from the obvious overcrowding , there was some old school hooliganism going on as well.

A chorus of "knees up muvver Brown" as a bonus!

Some of you may already know but there is an app called telescore which replicates Ceefax. Even has the numbers used by Ceefax. Here's an example of a page. A bit of fun and takes you back years.FB_IMG_1767638319453.jpg

Ronnie Simpson makes a save against England. Feb 1968.

The packed Hampden terraces provide a fantastic backdrop to the Feb 1968 match.

134,461 spectators officially turned up at Hampden, on a freezing cold February afternoon.

image.png

A ‘slightly lower’ crowd of ‘only’😀132,441 spectators, officially watched the April 1962 match.

Add 20-25,000 spectators, for a truer attendance in both matches!

Boyne:Superb, those street football rules bring back so many memories!

No.1 Slight amendment. If the fattest player owned the football. He could and would play wherever he wanted!

Good point about number 1. Ah, the days of playing football in the streets before there were too many cars or down the local park. Jumpers for goal posts. Playing outside until it was dark. Great days.

The famous ‘Big Hedge’ at Glebe Park home of Brechin City.

Great pictures. I've seen a photo of one of my cousins standing against the Big Hedge when Rangers played there in 2012.

Boyne:Don’t know if these two photos might help?

Brechin v Rangers on 29th July 2012.

The balls stuck in the ‘famous big hedge’! 😀

@erskblue Great photos. Can't see my cousin but thank you for posting. My cousin arranges the supporters buses for the Rangers supporters club he belongs to and goes on most of the away games as well as all the home games.
