Chelsea and United through.

Had two Tv's on .. watched both games.

Thought we were AWESOME. ITs amazing how Essien runs the show, been out for a few games, playing through pain and had a very good game. Harsh that he cant play the next game, credit that the yellow didnt pull him down and instead inspired his performance.

Wasnt happy with the Valencia players, rolling around, cheeky fouls - thought the ref should have done something about Ayala's elbow on Drogba in the box - have to see it again to judge weather or not that was a penalty.

Not too sure about Lamards performance, was poor with free kicks.

Jose is a master - a class apart.

As for United - they romped Roma. 7-1!!! .. dont think Roma really had a fair go at the game once United scored. They stood around and had no clue how to defend. I was kinda hoping United would score 10 .. just for fun. But this boosts their confidence ... hopefully it doesnt seep into the PL.

I am hoping/thinking it will have an opposite effect. They will be overoconfident, maybe even complacent, and a team will sneak one by them and maybe take a few points off of them.

Here's hoping...

Great point made by a Manc phoning 606:

"Tonight United thrashed a Roma team who only made it to the Champions League by virtue of the scandal that kept the top Italian clubs out of Europe. Chelsea have just beaten a Valencia team who have been unbeatable at home and put in a second half performance that is ominous as far as United's treble aspirations go."

Haven't seen the highlights of the Utd game yet however 7-1 is stunning in anyone's language in the CL. If we had beaten someone 7-1 in the group stages we would have been crowing so to do it in the QF is impressive.

Normally I have no qualms about wanting other British teams to lose in Europe however tonight I wanted Utd to go through Roma have been let off lightly for too long in terms of their fans behaviour and I didn't want to see them progressing any further.

As a lover of Italian football, I have to agree. Anyone who loves Italian football hates Roma. Whilst I am still very dubious and cynical about the Roma defeat (I thought they were tanking it) let us put club rivalries aside and crow about the fact that we will have three English clubs in the semis of the CL (let's face it, it will take a miracle for PSV to get through). And I would say, while I hate United as a team - I would support the basic human fact that their supporters deserve to watch them wherever in the world without the fear of intimidation - and they suffered shamelessly at the hands of the Roman police. So well done, United - for once. But I still take Milan to beat them!

What happened to the 'Worlds Best' Christian Chivu last night?

More like 'CHRIST-ALMIGHTY! CHIVU!'' icon_lol.gif

Some amusing stuff coming out of the Italian press. Look Here

"Now I run to father Dante to find out what circle of Hell my beloved Roma has fallen into"

Blimey
