October 22, 20223 yr .... and hopefully getting James back. 6 more games. Just 3 in the league, 2 of those against top 4 rivals. 2 CL games and a league cup match. All games in the league unless stated. RB Salzburg (A) CL Brighton (A) Dinamo Zagreb (H) CL Arsenal (H) Man City (A) LC Newcastle (A) How many points will we fall behind Arsenal if we do not beat them at the Bridge? I can see us getting anywhere from 1 to 4 points in the league, Brighton win or draw, Arsenal loss, Newcastle draw or loss. Then real football takes a break. What do you all expect from these games? Topping our CL group, elimination from the League cup? Only a few points out of 12? I will predict: Brighton Win Arsenal Loss Newcastle Loss
October 22, 20223 yr I seriously think we win the 2 CL games and all of our 3 PL games, the most difficult game is Newcastle away, i fear that players will be afraid to give 100% while being so close to the world cup i need to be optimistic otherwise it's too depressing Edited October 22, 20223 yr by azpi28
October 22, 20223 yr i would like to see some improvement in our attacking play and to still be in the top 4 when we go to the WC break (preferably with a bit of a buffer to #5 but Man U have some relatively easy games coming up so don't think that will be likely) Man U have Westham H Villa A and Fulham A so we need to get 9 points or we might drop down to 5th Edited October 22, 20223 yr by azpi28

October 23, 20223 yr Author I want to see significant improvement in attack for 5 of these 6 games (not City). I want us to have more total shots and more shots on target than the other 5 sides. We need that entertainment back.
October 23, 20223 yr To me this season was always about after the World Cup (even before TT was fired) due to new owners and the amount of change at the club. None of that answers your question though! A mixed bag. I see CL progression and a good platform, exit the LC (which is fine to me) and 4 points in the league. Player fatigue is the biggest issue.

Players getting injured is down to how much they packed in to accommodate this world cup. They are being overplayed and both clubs and national sides are suffering.
October 23, 20223 yr All the PL games are important. Clearly the game against Newcastle is a big one. As others have said winning in Salzburg would be helpful. Personally think we could run dead in the league cup. Its just not the season for that comp. So its three big league games really and if we are sitting in the top 4 at the break, its as much as we could hope for.
October 23, 20223 yr Fancy us getting a result against Arsenal ( not conceding another last minute set piece goal), since they will be one of the few sides coming at us, give us a chance to hit them on the break. Newcastle will be tough, the way they setup is perfect against us. We should get through the CL group. Playing against City is League cup is "perfect", either get knocked out early by a better team, or an upset win that gives us some confidence.
