December 30, 2025Dec 30 Rangers v Kilmarnock in thick snow at Ibrox back in January 1973. There’s some great footage of this ‘snow game’ on YouTube! Rangers won 4-0.
January 1Jan 1 Jim Forrest scores against Celtic at Ibrox . 1st January 1965. Rangers won 1-0. The ‘wee blue cars’ are lined up along the track in front of the North Terracing.
January 3Jan 3 John Grieg scores the only goal of the game against Celtic on 2nd January 1969. The official attendance was given as 85,000. There was a very bad crush on a terracing Stairwell at the corner of the North Terracing/Copland Road terracing. It would, exactly two years to the very day, become notorious as ‘Stairway 13’
January 4Jan 4 The Ibrox North Terracing, with the old Main Stand Roof covering it. 1920s I think.Rangers 3-0 Celtic.4th January 1975. This game was so vital in the 1974-75 Championship Race. Celtic never recovered from this defeat and Rangers gained so much confidence from it, ending up eventual Champions.
January 6Jan 6 A snow covered Ibrox pitch in 1976.A small fire had broken out in the Ibrox Main Stand. Late 1960s. Officials surveying the aftermath. I think there were similar fires in the Hampden and Celtic Park Main Stands around this time.Work has just started on the demolition of the Copland Road Terracing. The start of the Ibrox Redevelopment. May or June 1978.
