August 16, 200717 yr way too early to say. for the first time though, he's peformed on the right wing. (possibly not a coincidence that we are playing a 442, which his city successes were based on)
April 5, 200817 yr Thought I would resurrect this one. I know Joe has been frustrating at times but I can honestly not remember him being as bad as SWP has been. Bar a few games this season, a couple right at the start and then Everton League cup tie, he has been pretty much woeful. His CFC career is going nowhere. I reckon as soon as the season is over, we should make a swift move for Bentley and get rid of SWP to the highest bidder.
April 5, 200817 yr I'm not totally with you on this one. First of all, (I think and so do many) he has been played out of position at Chelsea, and not given his usual central midfield role due to the presence of Lampard, Ballack, Makelele, Essien and, Obi Mikel to some extent. Though, immensely talented, he shows those wonderful performances only occassionally and thus, drawing such reactions from fans. He is probably as fast as Joe Cole but not that good at control and dribbling, hence, he has to be content with warming the bench. So by my reckoning, he is and will be a good back-up for Joe Cole in the future. However I think, he would be looking forward to a move away from Bridge due to lack of first team oppurtunities.

I reckon as soon as the season is over, we should make a swift move for Bentley and get rid of SWP to the highest bidder. Can't argue with that. It's often been said that SWP is a confidence player, and that he needs a good run of games to get his act together. So he gets a run of games, puts in a couple of good performances, and then his game falls to pieces. He's fast and ... what else? Wasteful. I think he's had more than enough chances.
April 5, 200817 yr Author wow, Nibs -- i'd forgotten i even started this thread. it's fair to say that SWP's performance has been so disappointing this season that i almost feel embarrassed for having done so back in August. SWP can't complain that he hasn't had the opportunities, can he?
April 6, 200817 yr Not one bit can he complain, Manny. He has had ample chances to shine, and he looked like, at the start of the season, he could be the player we were all hoping for when he signed from Man City. He hasn't really ever produced, and he desrves to be on the bench. He can offer something coming off the bench, but not buch else. He isn't good enough to be a starter, and I think that he is at another club. I think he might leave in the summer Scott
April 6, 200817 yr We were robbed blind the day we paid good money for SWP, probably by the same guy who sold us Sheva. I doubt whether we would a get a quarter of what we paid for him and like a lot of others we have sold when he goes he'll fade into a nothingness.
April 6, 200817 yr if he signs for a mid table club were he is guaranted football he will do ok but if he goes to another team were he has to fight for his place he will be a nothing
April 7, 200817 yr i'd settle for £10m right now...it's strange cos a few months ago he was one of our best performers while the african nations was going on...it just doesn't seem to take much for his confidence to go
