All those who said Manure had sold its soul.....they were right!!

The accounts for the company that the Glazers use to own United show total borrowings, in the year to June 30 2007, were up to icon_twisted.gif £666m, by far the highest of any English football club, ever

I remember people tossing around the numbers after the Glazers came in, and I never understood how it was an actual financial viability. I know they borrowed against the value of the club and that the club then took on their debt, which is shady in itself, but what I didnt get was how they then turned around and splashed out 80 million a summer to buy young and refit the team. I dont remember Man United spending that much all at once when they were a PLC, so I dont understand how they could suddenly do it now that they were hundreds of millions in the red

I know some of the fans were discontent over the move, but they seem to have gone quiet since they have won the title. If I were a Man U fan (thank f**k im not) I would be thinking "next Leeds" all the time

Its kinda funny in one way.

We here all the time about Chairmen/owners who interefere with the team selections, tactics, etc of the manager. But at Man Utd there is no interference at all, not so much because they think its wrong to interfere, but because the Glaziers don't give give a crap about tactics or player selection.

in the end it probably plays to their advantage because Fergie, like him or not, is a brilliant football mind. But the fact that now he has to be successful and they have a razor thin margin for success (can you imagine if they missed the CL one year?) is a pretty worrying thing.....for them obviously

I wonder if/when they plan to break even? 2030? Sooner? Im not fully appraised on the financial dealings of PLCs but clubs as big as Man U should take better care of majority shareholders to avoid situations just like this one.
