As written by the Guardian:

On-pitch moment of the season

Michael Ballack's coolly taken late penalty against Manchester United, then Andriy Shevchenko's goalline clearance moments later

Off-pitch moment of the season

News that Jose Mourinho had left

Player who must not be sold

Ricardo Carvalho has been outstanding at centre-half, his performances often going unnoticed alongside John Terry

Greatest goal

Juliano Belletti belting in from distance against Tottenham

Most embarrassing moment

Chants of "You don't know what you're doing" at Avram Grant as he substituted Ballack and Makelele with the side trailing against Arsenal. His replacements helped turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 win

Effect of manager's shopping

Grant bought Nicolas Anelka in January, who contributed a solitary league goal if plenty of slick approach work

The season in five words

So near yet so far

Five-point action plan for the summer

Resolve whether Grant is to coach or revert to his role as technical director; Mould this squad into something capable of the manager's vision of attacking football; Secure Frank Lampard's future at the club; Ensure Michael Ballack stays; Address the uncertainty over Didier Drogba's future

All sounds about right, first secure futures then look at some attacking players, before the Euro's.

That said, I'd probably go for Lamps' penalty against scummypool, was there a dry eye in the house? Was there not a nerve that tingled when he stepped up? Not to mention the passion when it went in?

Most embarrassing moment

Drogba & Ballack squabbling over the ball for the free kick Vs Manure.

Nah...the "you don't know what you're doing" chanting beats that one for me, although that squabble is a close second. But...fans are supposed to be behind the team, not chanting the name of the former manager or belittling the current one. If you think the manager doesn't deserve positive chanting, don't sing about him, do it to the players instead.

There are exceptions, one of the most obvious being Geoff Hurst. Scumbag gets my combined nomination for worst/most hated/most despicable Chelsea manager of all time. Ok we've had a few crap managers, but on the whole they at least meant well, like Danny Blanchflower for instance, who simply couldn't cope with the job. But Hurst? Nasty bar steward, thought he was a cut above, didn't give a monkey's about the club, and who's name should be struck from the annals of Chelsea history.

In my case, there would be a few changes...

Player who must not be sold

For me its Essien, the most dynamic player we have had in a long time. He can take up almost every position in the defenece and the midfield.

Greatest goal

I thought Alex's screamer against Middlesborough was better than Belletti's.

Most embarassing moment

Conceding goals in the last 5-10 minutes throughout the season which also cost us the Premiership.

(Just my opinion)

Those late goals that we conceded were embarrassing, but it's all of them wrapped together as a series of moments that are the biggest embarrassment, but I don't think any single one of them alone is more embarrassing than the "you don't know what you're doing" chants.

That's just my opinion. 317.gif

essien, he can play anywhere and is probably the fittest (not in a good looking sense)footballer in the prem

Goal of the season
