"If you decide to pick four or five centre forwards, you don't have that many options and you have to make choices," Domenech said.

"It's never easy to wake up having to cross names from a list."

Instead of Trezeguet, Domenech picked St Etienne forward Bafetimbi Gomis. Scorer of 16 Ligue 1 goals this season, Gomis is the only real surprise on the list and one of two uncapped players, along with reserve goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.

The three Chelsea players are in. Not really surprising.

What is more surprising is that Cissé gets the axe in favor of Gomis. Flamini and Ben Harfa are also left out.

Still can't believe that Domenech picks Toulalan before Flamini...
