Setanta/sky

Featured Replies

Not only are most of our games played at 13:30 on a Sunday or 17:00 on a Saturday, and Monday night football - who can fotget that one!!??

BUT....I've just found out Setanta have got all the England internationals and FA cup for this coming season - FFS!!

I'm doing a late shift at work this week and thought, Oh well at least Wednesday will be alright, I'll be able to watch the football, but low and behold, it's on fu*cking Setanta, not the BBC or even SKY!!!

Same as the Wigan game on Sunday!!!!

The FA have sold out once again, and have shown their disrespect and distain for not only your attending football fan, but for the armchair supporters aswell now.

FA = football auction!

Fuc*ing jokers!!!!!

setanta have the away games only I think, but DO NOT GET SETANTA anyone! they are awful, awful c*nts.

England are at Wembley tonight though.

What makes it worse is that I had the offer of a ticket I could have used, but passed it on, and now I can't even watch it on the telly.

The Man City away game is on Setanta aswell, and I won't be ordering it BTW, so I'll have to find a pub for that game.

Ahhh finally!!!!

A subject close to my heart!!

What can we do lads!!???

I'm just hoping they wont be f**king me around this season,i'm going to Wigan and the rest regardless.

The worst of it was what Sky did to us last season with the Everton and Newcastle away games, moving them within weeks of them being played with no regard for the away supporters/atmosphere/soul of the game.

I'm getting older and hopefully wiser,i'm frankly bored of getting the mega hump!!

All I ask of them is to use common sense when selecting fixtures and not to move them before tickets have gone on sale.

They want to put games on telly.........thats fine, but dont do it at the expense of supporters.

Newcastle V Sunderland on a Wednesday night........thats fine!!

Plymouth V Carlilse on a Wednesday night.........BANG OUT OF F**KING ORDER!!!!!

Infact why cant we just scrap the old 3 o'clock rule, let them show two 3 o'clock games and have everyone kick off at the same time, problem solved!!

Why cant we do this????

ah did not know that! even worse!

maybe I was thinking of the qualifiers?

We get Setanta free because we've got the biggest Virgin Media package... so I can't say I mind, but it must be a pain coz football costs so much already, who wants to spend even more just to watch a few flippin games, disgrace. ITV have done well to hold on to half the CL rights.

the problem is that the people with power (in tv) don't want a sky monopoly. that's fair enough, and I agree, but two points need to be made:

1) if sky and setanta show less games, they should charge less. effectively setanta means you are paying £120+ for the premiership games sky charged for £40, and you are paying for the england games you got for free. they've upped their monthly charge (and this isn't even the reason why they are c*nts). the end result is that we are the ones who get f*cked.

2) not sure if everyone will agree, but I think that all england games should be on domestic tv- you shouldn't have to pay to see your national side compete in the national sport.

Totally agree, how can children watch these sort of games while they're off school aswell???#

Just checked with the fella's in work who are all cursing the fact they won't be passing the time by watching England and there is no highlights programme on BBC or SKY later tonight, the footage is exclusively sh*tanta's

It can hardly be good for the national sport as a whole if only a select few or those silly enough to keep reaching into their pockets can watch their national team

I played football with Mickey O Rourke, founder and Chief Executive of Setanta.

Not only was he cack, but he's a shortarse. And his name means cock.

Of course it should be on free to view telly,no doubt about that!

And the Cricket and the Rugby!!

insert joke about flaccid customer service.

The FA Cup and International rights are now shared between Setanta and ITV rather than Sky and BBC. ITV showed highlights (if you can call them that) at 10.30 last night.

The basic arrangement remains the same as before. All the home qualifiers will be on ITV and the away qualifiers will be on Setanta, with highlights on ITV.

Obviously it is a pain in the arse if you have Sky but not Setanta. If you don't have either then there is really no difference.

Not really, becuase you're paying £12 a month to a f**king truly awful company or not.

I know it's not a lot of money, but I'd much rather just watch the games on Sopcast than give anything to those cretins.

SKY @ £40 per month + Setanta @ 10 per month for the course of the year works out £600 quid per year. Most people have trouble getting kids to the games due to the cost, now some can't even watch it at home, it's a real shame

For £600 PA you may aswell put a bit extra, get a season ticket and read a book during the week ;)

thats all well and good if your not living in the midlands which, after the travel expense, works out alot more than" a little bit extra" plus I get to see more than one game a week.

I know I sound like an armchair fan, and I suppose I am. But when I could and when it was much more affordable, I was there, Grimsby, Hull, Hereford, Carlisle. I just cant do it any more (apart from the occasional game, anyone fancy meeting up for Albion away?)

I had Sky Sports for 3 years , after the 3rd year i finally gave it back . I was doing it through N.T.L. and their service was a disaster. Transmission going down, wrong bills and shockingly bad customer service.

Now i have a sattelite box, €150 , plugs in back of TV and away ya go. No other payments and the joy also includes N.T.L. losing their b*****ks. The entire country has them . Oh, and i dont care if it's illegal either.

Either way you look at it mate, were all being fleeced weither we attend the games or not now.......welcome to the 20th century and the world of pay per view.

Next season for 'the live football experience' Setanta offered to supply someone to fry onions outside my front room window and cover my passage way in horse sh*t. They said they'd supply a fridge full of warm, flat, beer at £5 per pint (PPP - pay per pint) and said I'd only have to wait 15mins for a piss in my own home.

Setanta is great in the USA. Without it we would not get the Chelsea matches, or get about 1/2 of them like it was before Setanta came around the states.

I'll pay whatever I need to, in order to watch Chelsea every game live, and I'm glad Setanta is in the USA to help me. What is so wrong with UK Setanta?
