CHELSEA are eyeing up Seville’s £18million-rated striker Luis Fabiano.

With Robinho due to undergo a medical today before completing his £28.4m move from Spanish giants Real Madrid, Blues manager Phil Scolari is now weighing up a bid for Fabiano.

Fabiano, 27, is a Brazil team-mate of Robinho and has earned himself a fearsome reputation as a goalscorer in La Liga — averaging one in every two games with Seville.

Both Andriy Shevchenko and Claudio Pizarro have been sent out on loan to AC Milan and Werder Bremen respectively.

So now the Stamford Bridge side are down to just two recognised strikers in Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

Robinho’s arrival on a five-year deal will boost the Blues strike-force but gaffer Big Phil does not want to risk a lack of firepower — especially as his top Drog could be out injured for up to a month.

But Seville do not have to sell — having banked £25m this summer from the sale of Daniel Alves to Barcelona.

Same here, mainly because he took quite a hefty (in footballing terms) paycut apparantly. Gone from a reported £120,000/£130,000 to £75,000/£85,000, although again, just pure speculation.

I don't think he's much different to Anelka in all fairness, we should be going for someone with proven Premiership quality in my opinion

I fail to see why this would be a bad signing he has a better record for Sevilla than Drogba has for us Goals per game.

I cannot think of a footballer who has not had previous problems. That is why we pay so much for a manager.

We need goals, Drogba is going to take time to recover and Anelka just looks out of sorts. If we wait we could write off any chances we have this season.

To me looking at his record in a football sense and having faith the manager could control him this could be a better signing than Robinho, who has never performed in europe to date!

Thanks, but no thanks. We don't need to buy another piece of patchwork as we did with Anelka. We need a long-term striker and he clearly is not up to the quality of our squad. He wouldn't be still in Sevilla otherwise.

I am not saying he isn't good, just not good enough for us. Tottenham maybe would be glad to have him :D

Its high time we went for a star signing, I know we already have way too many such players but the attack is fragile at the moment. However, Di Santo should be starting cup ties so that he has gained enough experience before our over-30s Drogba and Anelka take a final bow.

Fabiano would be a good choice but then again 27! I'm looking at someone under the age of 25 - Aguero, Huntelaar, Gomez, Benzema? Please, no more samba boys, talent exists outside the Portugese-speaking nations.
