dkw
with ferguson and utd taking the piss over berbatov we will now find out just how scared of old red nose the fa really are. he picks him up from the airport, negotiates terms and gives him a medical all without spuds say so, so surely this breaks all kinds of the FA`s rules. will they hammer utd and fergie? or cower behind the sofas with their fingers in their ears shouting "LA LA LA, nothing wrong here!" Mr Chelsea
apparently not theres some clause in the deal that sent campbell to rottenham that they wont pursue there complaint aginst utd i dont know if the fa have the power to do something anyway but i doubt they would if they could
ethicalstrategy
Not a chance. Without Spurs support the FA can do nothing and it was clearly part of the deal that they would take no action.
TheWestwayWonder
fergie does what he wants, when he wants. The FA are onlookers to his career at this point. Even Spuds are too scared to say anything. Where the old man really knew what he was doing was in chasing a player who really wanted to come to his club. Robinho just wanted out of Madrid. Berbatov wanted Man United, accept no substitutes.

The real tragedy is that their team is now a much stronger one. When Ronaldo gets back, with he an Berbatov supporting Rooney and Tevez. Well, we will have our hands full to say the least. Tim
The thing is though, how on earth does that work as a formation? Berbatov behind Tevez and Rooney with Ronaldo on the wing? Doesn't work for me. Who is the lead striker? Are any of them capable of playing that role. Great collection of attacking talent, for sure, and better than ours by a long way, but fitting them all into a team and keeping an ego like Ronaldo and a sulk like Berbatov happy could be a tricky one. Here's hoping at any rate. Edited September 2, 2008 by Tim
midlandblue
I think they may well play Rooney wide right. Or they may try the Keegan approach all go for all out attack.
Tim
True, but can't see Wazza being too happy about that. His form has dipped significantly since he's been shifted all across the attacking line, in my opinion. While his dedication to the cause is admirable, I reckon his development has been severely hampered by this willingness to play whatever role Fergie decides for him. Yes, he can do a job wide left or wide right, but it plainly does not make the use of his talents. Will he become Manure's Dirk Kuyt?
foxyfmu
I've been wondering that but I presumed without Spurs say so the F.A. could do nothing so after the agreement they reach with Scousers to drop charges there was only going to be one outcome with regards to that here. How we fit Berba in is a point of much debate. But I reckon something like this: ----------------Berbatov--------------- --Tevez -----------------------Rooney--- ------Scholes -- Carrick----Fletcher-------- When EVERYONE is fit then something like this maybe --------------------Berbatov ------------ -----------------------Rooney ----------- Tevez-------------------------------Ronaldo ---------------Scholes -- Carrick --- I think the front 3 (exc. Berba) should all be given complete freedom to roam. So you may expect to see something like this during games -----------------------Berbatov-------------- ----------------------------------------Ronaldo ---------Tevez/Roo ---------------Rooney/Tevez ------------------Scholes --- Carrick-------- It will be impossible to mark anyone as they all have such movement. Berbatov won't roam so to speak but if you watch the highlights they often pick out how he similar to Ruud but better and almost akin to the Scholes of old, drifts unseen into spaces and actually has good movement off the ball if not as noticeable as Rooney's and Tevez's due to the different styles. Put Roo in one position albeit a free one and play him there consistently he'll do well and with Berbatov to play off I think we'll see the fruit of his ability as we did when Van Nistelrooy was in front of him. TheWestwayWonder
Like Tim, I think Rooney would be best used right alongside Berbatov, playing a classic small, shifty forward's role next to a target man, but good lord --------------------Berbatov -----------------------------------Rooney ----------- Tevez-------------------------------Ronaldo ---------------Scholes -- Carrick --- ;) Its hard to argue with that. 4 across the front line who have the capablility to bang in 15-20 a season. Even if Ronaldo is demoted to towelboy they're still gonna be a formidable prospect to conquer in the league
andy
Back to the title of the thread.. I would never feel sorry for Spurs of course but you got to question.. they did not want to sell Keane or Berbatov (sp?) ...... and did not give them permission to speak to either of the clubs I know I am .... ;) a bit but.... A. imagine if we had done that ? B. Imagine having it done to us ? They seemed powerless to stop it. Also, can't City with their new found wealth sue Spurs ? I am no lawyer but Spurs accepted City's bid for Berbatov I am no lawyer but offer to treat and all that ? .. it is a binding contract even if it is not in writting ? It's funny because it's true. We're already a "disgrace to football" (source: everything) because of the whole Ashley Cole deal... Oh yeah, that reminds me... F***ing Peter Kenyon!
