Ruh Buh Juh
£10 Million for the French Starlet He's 21, he's a winger, he'll be cup-tied, but why not? We need something to bolster our attack, and this guy is very highly rated.
Maksimov
Is he good enough to go into the starting lineup straight away? If he's not good enough, then he can stay where he is. We've got promising youngsters of our own who can be our back up players. He has looked promising, but I haven't seen him play this season so I can't say if he's really good enough. Johan Gruyff
Why not? Sounds decent and a youngster. But where will he fit? Scolari won't drop Anelka or Drogba, Joe Cole? But still don't thinkhe would fit.

octville
After being told that no fund would be available unless Scolari sells, I am pleasantly surprised that we are linked to Marseille's Ben Arfa. The French international is not very tall, but has vital skills to improve our wing play. In 19 starts & 4 substitution appearance for Marseille, Ben has netted 7 with 5 assist. That is a good work rate. The Lyon transfer was undisclosed but 10 mil quid is a decent price to pay. Hopefully, we get this deal wrap up. It may be better if we can do a swap deal that include Florent Malouda.
geezer
21? Far too young and he's nowhere near being a has-been so why should we sign him? By the way Octville didn't you notice this thread before you posted yours in the General forum?
Maksimov
But where will he fit? Scolari won't drop Anelka or Drogba, Joe Cole? Ben Arfa plays on the left, doesn't he? So we wouldn't have to drop any of those players to make room for him. The question you gotta ask is would Scolari drop Malouda and Kalou to make room for Ben Arfa? Johan Gruyff
I would prefer to see Ashley Young or Agbonlahor because we know more about them. They won't sell but Malouda & Deco for Young & Agbonlahor? Malouda & Deco have been very poor. But Deco has only been there for 6 months and looks like LFS's favourite. charierre
Be surprised if this one comes off at 10 million , he only signed for Marseille in July for 9.5, unles they're skint too. A part exchange for Malouda would be good :D
icecoolguy22
Sounds like a good option to me, the only thing is we do need to offload someone so he wont spend the rest of his chelsea career on the bench. I cant see us getting Ashley Young, Man City will outbid us if he is on the market. If we had any foresight, we should have signed him 2 years ago when he went to Villa . If we had bought him two years ago, he wouldn't have made the progress he has during the past few years as he would have been rotting in our reserves with no hope of playing in the first team. Sorry to be so negative, but that's how I see it.

Sorry to be so negative, but that's how I see it. Thats kind of my point, we only bid for the establised star, rather than give the likes of young Ronaldo, Farbragas a go. God knows maybe Sinclair is as good as Ashley Young, if only we play him couple of times a month. To me, Ashley Young is just the flavour of the month, or year, just like SWP. If we are going to pay a record fee for him, lets do it after 2 years after he prove he is the real deal.
Ruh Buh Juh
Where did Ashley Young come from anyway? He just appeared out of nowhere and 2 years down the line he's an MVP. But I still think Ben Arfa's a good gamble. He's young and already got a big name, so if he's crap, we sell him on for double what we got for him in the first place! Sorry, Ruh Buh Juh, but it had to be said! Just making a point. You maybe trying to stick to your guns but, you never know.... TheWestwayWonder
I know l'OM bought Ben Arfa to make up for the loss of Nasri, so I really cant see them letting go of him this early or that cheap. But that said, I know he has been a problem child in the past and doesnt have the greatest attitude. Maybe a manager like Scolari, who has settled down the likes of Quaresma and Ronaldo, is something he needs.

He's young and already got a big name, so if he's crap, we sell him on for double what we got for him in the first place! Ashley Young has been heard about for years, he was Watford's best player leading up to their promotion and prior to that one of the best talents in The Championship. He decided to stick with Watford and that gave him consistent first-team experience as opposed to joining the likes of Everton etc. who were tracking him at that time. Ben Arfa isn't that great. Nasri is a better player than he is.
mad_mac
Thought we had a promising young french winger who can score, assist, unlock defences and has been voted French Player of the Year....albeit, as a youth player....his name is Gael Kakuta. mad_mac
I know mate, and Kakuta is only about 17, so I think he's a little ways away from making the first team, although I'd love to see him given a chance...not this season though Scott
