So what are the point of contracts in football?

Well if I signed a contract to work with a hospital for 2 years and a year in they hired another surgeon that was getting more OR time than me because of lower infection rates, I couldn't walk into the CEO and state I won't work for him anymore. Life doesn't work as such.

Oh I'd love to have him come. I regularly follow recruiting for my University of Texas Football (American) team and consistently see kids that want to start as freshmen/sophomores and choose a school based on that. Generally these kids have a sense of self entitlement and flame out. Back in the 1970s we had a coach Darrell Royal who would consistently get the best kids out of Texas to fight it out for playing time. We ended up winning three national championships in 8 years. I'd prefer having players who want to challenge themselves. Lukaku seems like he wants the keys handed to him prior to proving he knows how to drive. Sure he has done well at Everton and West Brom, but this isn't Everton. This is Chelsea. We should have two world class players fighting. PSG - Ibra, Cavani Bayern - Mandzukic, Muller Citeh - Aguero, Dzeko, Jovetic Monaco - Falcao, James Real Madrid - Benzema, Morata Liverpool - Suarez, Sturridge Again, my opinion is bring him on and let him and Costa fight it out for playing time, sell Ba and let Torres ride the pine.

I don't understand this entire situation. If we are in fact loaning him to A. Madrid without him signing a new contract, I don't think we ever see him play in Chelsea blue again.

In the NFL, the final 2 minutes of the game only refs can call challenges. So you could put in a clause that states in the last 10mins/extra time, no more manager challenges.

Works in the NFL, but it is a sport where breaks are constant. The NHL to my knowledge only has replays initiated by the refs. The would have to put in specific situations where it could be applied (like offsides).

Oh it is just getting airplay in america. A place where quite a bit of this is under reported.
