Duff, Carvalho, Ferreira, Cudicini, Alex, Gallas (forget the Arsenal rubbish), Bridge (remember the Arsenal goal), the mighty Makelele!
Those were happy days. To have a squad like that is a rarity, we were very very fortunate. I felt proud as hell to see any of those to wear a blue shirt because I knew the'd give it all, I think Jose was brought back to produce something to this standard but it wasn't to be.
I've thought as the years go by that footballers are becoming soulless, is it money? is it a generation of weak personalities? Are expectations too high on our club. I cannot see a squad to that level around soon if ever, I'd happily go with the long term team development and a manager that Roman can feel satisfied with for longer than 3 years but is that honestly possible? I know I'd feel more attached, more interested in and prouder of a squad not based on their cost. We have the players out there on loan or in the academy that can change the current atmosphere and opinions positively but it has to be based on a Manager not forced to over achieve, I'm afraid Roman needs to change first.
