  1. Enzo played in 3093 minutes this year across the league, FA Cup and League cup. Can someone explain how this suggests being frozen out of the side?
  2. Last post from me on this thread. It's an interesting take, but I think these midfielders are all doing what midfielders do. https://www.sofascore.com/player/conor-gallagher/904970 https://www.sofascore.com/player/enzo-fernandez/974505 https://www.sofascore.com/player/moises-caicedo/987650 https://www.sofascore.com/player/declan-rice/856714 https://www.sofascore.com/player/alexis-mac-allister/895324 https://www.sofascore.com/player/bruno-guimaraes/866469 What is the best position for Enzo to play? who plays alongside him and what parts of their game does the team need to sacrifice to accommodate him? The conundrum for the new manager is how to improve Enzo and get him playing consitantly well at a higher level? Leaving you all to it. Enjoy your summer and euros.
  3. I simply look at it as though the manager was trying to accommodate him in the side further forward, but I can only remember a handful of games where he started further up the pitch, it didn't work and he was restored alongside Caicedo. I'd argue there is a massive difference in playing guatamala, and in the premierhsip. There is no time in the premiership. I think that's been his biggest issue, the EPL is unmerciful in its pace to close down players and the lovely flicks and reverse passes dont come off and possession breaks down. And in team sports, yes, there is a need to accommodate skillsets in players, but the player himself needs to be disciplined in his position wherever hes asked to play. Asking two players to change their games to accomodate Enzo means the team will lose out in other areas caicedo or Gallagher ecxcel at. Like I say, its a conundrum for the new man to work out. Hope he does. But its also fair and reasonable to think that some players wont migrate - hes a fan favourite and therefore gets a different ride on here to those who many want to sell. Cool, hope he finds consistent form and time on the ball to play his game this season under a new manager. Will leave you all to it...
  4. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/enzo-fernandez/leistungsdaten/spieler/648195 Enzo has played 30 games in a central midfield or defensive midfield position. 8 as an attacking midfielder. I cant remember when he started on the the wing or near the wing. Please, prove me wrong. Cheers.
  5. This thread is proof the blinkers are well and truly on for Enzo. He has flashes of good play but sorry the fact people are making excuses for a 100 million pound player who hasnt nailed down a role in the side or three managers havent been able to integrate him to the side properly yet says a lot. This is exactly what im talking about. the fact folk have to say how he bossed a game 12 months ago as a reference... Gallagher has been head and shoulders above this guy all season and we look better when he plays in Enzo's position and Enzo is out the side, he was played alongside Caciedo and doesn't have the discipline to hold a position. he's not creative enough in the final third to be considered an auxiliary winger, whatever that means and was fine for the first half of the season and wasnt injured and we looked a mess... the whole side were but if he doesnt improve this year, start doing the close control and turning players to find space that he should be doing, because he misplaces passes a lot, gives the ball away far too cheaply and in dangerous areas, simply because hes not up to the speed of the premiership. Some latin players dont adjust and we've all seen it here before. Will leave you all to circle jerk about him, I'd be shipping him out ASAP if Maresca cant get him settled and playing to a consistent standard. There are better and more effective players out there who would do a better job for us.
  6. How many games did he play pushed wide or as an attacking midfielder? curious to your viewpoint. He played centrally for most of the season, he is a CM by all listings, either further forward or alongside in a more cdm role with Caicedo. Cant really remember him playing wide right or left on many occasions. I know he's a favourite among fans but think he's been sub-optimal bar a few games against lesser sides.
  7. The opposition, mighty Guatamala ranked 108 on the planet.... when he does that consistently against lower and midtable teams in the premiership... he'll be quite a player. The guy needs to dramatically improve next season under Maresca.
  8. Scotland are like Wales - Absolute dross at international level. England will suck the life out of the tournament and Germany will probably run out of gas - France to win it.
  9. Mark my words, 3 weeks and we'll all be well up for... 17th August 2024... Premier League returns...
  10. Diego Costa replacement?
  11. I dont know how a club can sign a player who doesnt want to play for them. Is there a gun under a table involved?
  12. Dont... 🙂 im fearful if we sign him but I think he will be a class act, but half the season out with a hammy, given our medical record the past few years... yikes, someone said the board were learning from past mistakes last week... Fofana is sadly a benchmark for injured transfers.
  13. 60 million for signing a physio table.
  14. No, thats not what im implying, you are inferring that. (ive pasted it below for you to re-read) "this guy made some very, very expensive signings look like chumps last year just from his dedication to the club and game... We spent quarter of a billion pounds on three players to play in midfield and Gallagher has run rings around them all and cost CFC nothing but development fees, we've even made money off his back by loaning him out." You're also suggesting Enzo has been injured through the season which sounds like an excuse. Let me put it to you this way. https://www.premierleague.com/news/3850801 Gallagher is in the top 10 premiership players for distance covered in the league with 206 KM run. He grabbed 5 goals 8 assists. James ward Prowse ran the most this season, 220 KM with a return of 7 goals and 7 assists. Dejan Kulusevski was the leagues second best marathon runner and 8 goals three assists. Bruno Fernandes was the most effective central midfielder running 216 KM with 19 goals or assists. 105 million pound man Declan Rice ran 221 KM and got 7 goals 9 assists. Someone outside of that top ten I like watching is Gibbs white, ran 205 KM last season, would be a direct replacement for Gallagher, Forrest are looking for bids higher than 75 million for him if they sell him this month. Forrest's Brazilian defender murillo will also fetch that sort of fee. You wont agree with me, but Gallagher is a premiership midfield boss already...
  15. Can be viewed the other way around. Gallagher helps CFC into Europe with his performances (bar Palmer's goals - was the outstanding performer all through last season), and the club make up the shortfall in fees through competition money, replacing Gallagher is going to cost us how much considering we spent 300 million oPay him what the other top stars in the squad are on or make him the best paid player at the club and this isnt an issue. I do find it strange fans put all their hopes in players who signed 12 months ago and have yet to make an appearance or any meaningful impact because of injuries. I like the faith but is misplaced until we see consistent performances. Gallagher will fill sandbags, dig trenches, bleed blue and fans consistently post about how they want him gone, isnt good enough, and the rest to satisfy financial fair play rules, this guy made some very, very expensive signings look like chumps last year just from his dedication to the club and game. We spent quarter of a billion pounds on three players to play in midfield and Gallagher has run rings around them all and cost CFC nothing but development fees, we've even made money off his back loaning him out. the mind boggles
  16. Wondering if we can start playing the wingers as central midfielders and defenders. Do we really need another winger? He also missed half of last season with a hamstring injury and we know how that works with Rece James. if the owners want to give me 4 million, i'll happily burn it and flush it down the toilet for them.
  17. Yeah.... It clearly hasn't worked because we've sold most of the all-conquering youth team, and continue to sell others who really could have done a job over a number of years. Ake, to many fans, wasnt good enough, but was for a club competing at the top of the premier league and europe. It works when you have a pathway to the senior squad and players come back knowing they have a chance. Case in point, Cesare Casadei. Went on loan and was called back, people were calling for him to be included in our team or be sent back on loan as it was a waste having him at Stamford Bridge. ther is a counter argument here as well, we say that the young players signed for huge money need time to settle and develop when coming to the premiership. Well, if you're an 18 year old going on loan from us to France or spain, or holland, its the same adjustments our youth make moving abroad or to other clubs domestically. so a loan player is always going to be more unsettled than being at a club theyve been all their lives. Its hit and miss. But given how the clubs finances are right now, I'd say the cobham boys could be saving us a fortune on players being brought in and underperforming for 12 months before theyre all up to speed. for the "data" bods to work out.
  18. I did, but I also lok at the wider picture of improved performances over a period of time. they were shockers but so were some defeats under Sarri, Conte until his tactical switch, potter at southampton finished him... I think it happens to teams trying to play the style we are, happened to other teams around us and on any given day, that is the premiership, teams take points from games theyre not supposed to. New manager at the healm, tbh, im expecting more of the same, inconsistant performances, injuries and some terrific performances. The aim has to be top 4 this season and a return to the champions league. We'll be there or thereabouts. I hope the likes of Tosin and others all step up a level. They need to.
  19. I'd simply say United under red nose used his youth team, not just the class of 92, but also other youth players from the united academy to support the first team. Ake is clearly good enough to compete in a team at the top of the league, as is Kovacic and both are pretty much rotating squad memebers in that city side. We had it for a while where we had experienced internationals filliing in under the first team. I think it all comes back to the phrase, pathway to the first 11 and given injuries in modern football, you need fresh legs to come in and do a job. Talents like Musiala would then perhaps think twice about leaving. The issue is how do you get players like Timouri, Gehui, et all who develop slightly later, to stick around until they become good quality premiership players. time on the pitch.
  20. Fair play and agree tbh... Given how some of our signings turned out under Roman. We're still paying for Lukaku etc... however, it really does have to be a blend imo. I think we were all crying out for experienced players at some point last season - especially when the ijuries took hold. I'd simply offer the idea that if Poch had a couple of players who knew his style and how he worked, it may have rubbed off quicker on the players earlier on in the season what he was trying to do. City were set up for pep, I doubt he wont be consulted on players they want to bring in. I'd also argue the same for the small spanish waiter arteteteteta... Look, we're all just seeking an answer to the club's slump. I prey they get it right this season becuase it'll be another long 9 months come August.
  21. Most players signed we havent seen at their best because theyre injured. Which is a massive problem in recruitment. This led to our league position last season which according to the owners wasnt good enough and they sacked another manager. youtube is littered with wonderkids who never make it, if pinning your hopes on the next wonder kid is where your at, cool. For every Kennedy, see Kakuta, Di Santo and players falling by the wayside. I choose not to bend spoons with positivity but rather see the reality. Have you seen these pages on match day? Not just me who has the fear... like many others, im simply making do and realising that no club has a divine right to success. I'll get behind the players and club but i dont have to get behind the owners who have put us in huge debt and are asset stripping it. If that isnt a red flag or warning - im not sure what is. My statement might be premature, but dining in chicken shack, selling better players to pay for others isnt progress - I'll take the press reports over "my mate says" which can be found on this forum. As I said in a previous post, im not going to celebrate the clubs finances, thats what spurs and gooners do... Im not going to celebrate top 4, thats what spurs and gooners do... I'll celebrate when we're competing regularly for silverware in cups and at the top of the table against city. That's my benchmark for success, sustaining title challenges and silverware. thats not a past thing thats a forward-looking thing. however, High turnover of players, managers, and selling your best players to fund highly suspect purchases based on talent or promise isnt a great business model, its higher risk than under Roman.
  22. Im not actually harping back to the old days mate. Im simply trying to deal with the new reality. That is an overspend, probably half a billion pounds worth of singings that didnt need to be made since the club had more than enough on its books player-wise to find a solution and has put the club in massive debt. Last time we were saddled with debt we couldn't pay the Eurobond loan... then Roman stepped in. Im concerned that continued poor performances on the field lead to less funds, more sales. If management is learning from its mistakes, the only thing I can say is theyve held off sacking Poch until the end of the season. but 5 managers in 2 years is something even Roman struggled to do. I used to find it frustrating how we would sack managers even if things were going well. The current structure isnt sustainable if it means selling your best youngsters to pay for other areas of the club, creative accountancy is what got City into trouble over FFP and we're on the cusp of being fined, like city. Its been a messy transition... its not done yet as we have a new manager and ideas for players to learn. I hope it all clicks. I really do... because failure will be spectacular.
  23. Can we stop this ludicrous comparison that Tosin is somehow going to become VVD for us? We used to dine on KFC now we're sharing from a bargain chicken shack bucket with the also rans like united, spurs and newcastle... i cant celebrate that. f**k these owners. Sorry, Im not a fan who wants to talk about financial fair play, youre starting to sound like spuds and gooners who were exactly like this when they were building their new stadiums, a club that was technically debt free is now saddled with debt that if not serviced will put us out of business. It's like Ken Bates and the eurobond loan all over again, Roman stepped up to bail us out. Who will bail us out when these dumb bastards asset strip us.
  24. So am I... 😉 but we are absolutely now bargain basement shopping and selling off the jewells to pay for the excess of the past two years. 5 managers in and not one player has been signed as per a managers wish. The board only support profit, gutting the club and eventually turning a profit by selling us on. See United ownership as to how we will operate if the players signed dont deliver. Hope tosin improves us, im doubtful, would have preferred Silva over him, but the fact we'll sell a better younger player over him should be a massive red flag about the direction of the club.
  25. Fans are not happy with the players weve signed for huge money, look at the Jackson, Gallagher, Mudryk, enzo, badisheile and disasi threads. If these guys are not the required level, not proper chelsea, why is a defender signed to replace club legend Silva going to cut the mustard. I'd have kept silva over signing tosin. I simply said we're now shopping in the budget section of the supermarket. Fairly accurate given the financials of overspending weve seen. We're looking to floggin genuinely good and developing first-team players to stock up on "talent". Im not pissed at the player, im pissed at the board who continually make really stupid decisions in signing players. This is yet another example of getting basic decisions wrong. The club is singing players and managers like its going out of fashion. Sometimes continuity is needed to get stability from which you can build. Anyhow, he wears the blue and as I say, hope he becomes a monster for us. We can only hope at this stage.
