  1. I wonder what happens when you take Gallagher out of this side? I guess we'll find out, I agree with you and some others on here, him going to Spain will be far easier to take than seeing him turn out for a premiership side, but we are selling a one man wrecking ball who wins A LOT of balls in the oppos final third and was our best-performing midfielder last season. To me, he was the only player with energy in the midfield and ran himself into the ground. Will be sorely missed by me, great player to have around a club. Top, top pro and for change you can find down the sofa of a billionaires house.
  2. Im hoping he's not our version of Leadly King. Really hoping he stays injury free this year and we get to see him play consistently... but at a much higher level than against Celtic. The guy has to shake away the cobwebs on his career. Him & Colwill for me are the starting pair. Having said that, Id have Colwill and Chalobah as my ideal starting pair but the club are trying to move Cahlobah on and I'd rotate Fofana into form and fitness cause I reckon he'll break down again at some point.
  3. The new away shirt will be used by the ringer called up to stand at fine leg who doesnt have cricket whites. It has a duel use so im alright with it.
  4. Give him stick but Sanchez just pulled off an outrageous save. great block.
  5. just hope he sorts out the defense. we'll win more games if he does.
  6. The entire squad is in the shop window is how I see it. If the club isnt successful on the pitch, the owners will sell players and make it a profitable investment another way, a la Brighton. Brighton is a profitable club for its owner but not successful. I think it also problematic that two players can be guaranteed places in a starting 11 before they've even kicked a ball for us in any preseason. I dont have a strong affinity to the players weve signed so far, hence why im disappointed our best performers, youth products, who outplayed the newer imports last season are being potentially sold off. More than happy to give the benefit of the doubt to all the players and manager and see how it goes this year, but when a side in any division sells off its better or league-experienced players, it tends to expose deficiencies in other areas of the squad unless everyone steps up to be counted. this is a post I hope comes back to bite me and am proven very, very wrong. But I think there are warning signs ahead and im concenred. Just want the season to start now so we can find out.
  7. Funny, seems most of our better performers from last season are all for sale.... hmmm
  8. true... 🙂 Ultimately, good luck to him, the club wanted him and offered the contract and he signed for us. hope he finds form and shows us what weve missed. unfortunate chain of managerial and ownership changes probably led to this.
  9. Outlived six managers, two incarnations of Sir Frank and care taker Bruno....
  10. hmmmm... I guess too many injuries clouds my judgement.
  11. Only thing that matters is fitness. We've looked undercooked for a number of seasons going into the league.
  12. Just want enzo to turn up this year with his WC/ Copa winning experience and to lay it all out on the pitch like his life depends on it and we see his true colours. the club and payers will deal with Enzo as they must, call him out, discuss things and move on as humans with some luck. Enzo or no enzo, the biggest take away from this is Reece James might be injury free... fingers crossed, best of luck to him!!! With him in the side, we are a top 4 team, on a good day he owns the entire away team dressing room, on a bad one he's just world class. Cant rate this guy enough and hope he finds fitness and form this season. Will be straight in my fantasy side when starting.
  13. Not great but seen the lighter side of it now after half a bottle. He's up for the fight, that's good to hear, whether he's capable of fighting is what we'll find out. Perhaps Mareasca will have him playing out from the back like a clubfooted Messi... the team does need to do more fighting talk and backing it up. This is a good start I guess.
  14. Read this filled me with dread on the back of what we saw with Sanchez having a pair last season... wheres the burbon, its early evening and i need a big drink.. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/needs-pair-chelsea-man-explains-113000706.html
  15. Just wish he does really well for himself and the rest of his career when he does move. Will follow how he gets on away from us and give him a big cheer when he returns to Stamford Bridge. Really cant fault the guy. Top pro and were losing a player because the owners are asset stripping us. Not sure I can see this move through any other logic.
  16. Makes sense, makes me wonder what if we could have had fully fit fullbacks with Tuchel or indeed if any full back was fit between then and now and see what a difference it would have made to us.
  17. https://www.transfermarkt.com/trevoh-chalobah/erfolge/spieler/346314 represented every England level from 16 to 21. Got some youth winners badges as well, linked above... If he was available from another club, we'd be sniffing around trying to sign him. Got to say, was a fan of his brother who had too many injuries to have a consistent top-flight career, think Trevor is a much better player and has always done a job for us when called into the side. Gues Tosin signing is a replacement. Its a strange one.
  18. Was going to say, Winston Bogard meet Malinga Sarr... Club agreeed to the contract, the players just sticking to it.
  19. Put the racism to one side for a minute, this is my optics of it, current Chelsea player returns to his old club and wears the jersey of it... am i being overly sensitive?
  20. Can the owners please buy Brighton, set it up as a franchise in New York and jog on now? If this season turns into a mess, the blame is on them and I hope theyre hounded from the ground and dont turn up anymore such will be the levels of abuse they will rightly deserve. Absolutely despise the new owners.
  21. Only 6 years before the owners can f**king can sell up and f**k off. Counting down the days. Or am I imagining that theres a clause in the buying contract saying they couldn't sell up before 8 seasons.
  22. Perhaps theyve been warned off travelling to the states by the new medical team. Pitches there just laid waste to Messi...
  23. well, I think all I can ask is who is better and available at a decent price? While he isnt the greatest keeper to grace the bridge, i actually like the fact he has a lot of really good basic qualities. such as knocking balls awy from danger areas, and dealing with ariel threats. He's a percentage keeper and not bad at all. We could do worse with sanchez between the posts. Confidence is king between the posts... Remember, he came into the side late December last year, we were top 4 form wise from that period on. I think he earnt a place in the side.
  24. It is absurd that managers want keepers to play balls with their feet when theyre in goal for exactly the opposite reason, hand-eye coordination. The role of a keeper is to keep the ball out of the net, doesnt matter how so long as a body part gets in the way of a shot on goal. I thought Petrovic did that rather well in a side where the defence kept changing. I cant say his kicking game was brilliant, but he hits percentages into safe areas and does it better than Sanchez. If the club can upgrade on Petrovic, great, but if not, I dont have too many concerns about last seasons number one being this seasons. think it would do Petrovic's confidence the world of good if he retains his position. I have no idea why modern goal keepers cant throw overarm anymore. its far more accurate than kicking or passing and has hieght to go over pressing lines. Schmiechal was brilliant at picking a pass with a overarm throw. Its a brilliant way to set up counter attacks as well. Theres an art form to dropping a ball 30 yards on someones toe from a keepers throw.
