The whole JT rumour hasn't worried me hugely. What does worry me is the fact that our club can't spell the names of our own players...Shevchencko or Ivanovich may be forgiven, but this is just disgraceful:

Haha you haven't seen him play for Chelsea, yet you're writing him off. Pirlo is perhaps the best player in the world at what he does, there isn't really a comparable deep lying playmaker. Just because the Premier League is faster than other leagues doesn't mean foreign players can't speed their play up and adapt. Comparing Deco to Pirlo is silly...you're pretty much saying that just because they aren't from this league and are over 30 they are the same. Pirlo is in his prime, Deco wasn't. Pirlo plays in a different position. Deco still managed to play extremely well before his injuries and drop in form. Given the chance, Deco would probably shine again at Chelsea, but its likely that he'll leave.

Not sure what to make of this...have you been right about this kind of stuff before? At the moment I'm still refusing to believe anything about this JT rumour.

I think Pato/Aguero are uneccessary anyway. We have Malouda, Kalou, Joey, Lampard, Anelka, Shevchenko and Sturridge who can play behind Drogba. Sure we'd like them and they would probably enhance our team, but like I've said before the only reason to buy them now is so that we don't end up paying £100m for them.

That'd be exactly what I'd do with him, but I'd play him as a backup second striker.

I think its quite funny how after the rumours have died down, after we've had numerous dismissals from the club and after we've seen pictures of JT happily training away, NOW you all start to question whether or not he'll stay???? This is a stupid story, always has been. The press have made a huge thing out of a cheeky little bid and now our own fans wouldn't mind seeing Terry go, nice to see our fans aren't fickle...

Did they make a bid? We've been after him for a long time! Most wouldn't regard Zhirkov as a 'marquee' signing.

It wouldn't hurt, but why spend uneccesarily? O'shea's one of the most versatile players I've ever seen...striker, defender, midfielder, goalkeeper....he plays everywhere. The twins are inexperienced and wouldn't have lasted the campaign. Wes Brown was injured, as was Neville for most of the season...a distinct lack of options if there ever was one! Our rivals are no better than us (especially now that ronaldo's gone)...as long as we can keep ourselves motivated and use the right tactics, we shouldn't be too pushed to win the League. Cheers...that sounds about right. Malouda didn't play very far out wide either! Either way, we were the best team in the league after Guus came along, even with Anelka on the right! I don't think we really have a priority in what we need to bring in, I'd like to see a creative midfielder, but the club probably won't suffer much if we don't see any more signings.

Mancienne can play as a right back, in fact he's played there more than in any other position...I don't think he's ever played defensive midfield!? Kalou playing as a winger has been frustrating at times, but he gets goals...so why not play him as a back up right winger? The other players I listed can play on the right side and it'd be up to Carlo to decide who should do so. You can't say that we didn't play with a right side...Anelka was played there for most of Guus' time in charge! I don't think any team can or should follow the policy of having two top top quality players in every position. Look at Man Utd...they who could they replace Evra with? Who did they have as a right back? Look what happened to Tevez! Good, versatile squad players is what won them the league: Fletcher, Park, Giggs, O'Shea, Evans, Tevez. We don't need a top quality right winger to try and push Joe out of the starting 11, we need to have good players to fill in for him and in my opinion that's what we have already.

Its not ridiculous at all. Who else is realistically going to come to us? We're probably not going to get Villa, Aguero, Pato, Ribery, Sneijder, Robben, Tevez, Eto'o, Messi etc. What other marquee player is going to come to us? Don't worry, it wasn't a dig at the club! In regards to Ibrahimovic, I haven't seen much of him, but I'd rather not see ourselves fritter away £60m+ on a 'marquee' player just for the sake of it. Give Pizzaro another run in the team, we know he's good!

Quaresma's left :D . As for a good right sided player, if Joey gets injured we have Kalou, Anelka, Bosingwa, Essien, Belletti, Stoch and possibly Malouda. What would be the point in making a new signing which may put Joey on the bench? If Bosingwa gets injured, we have Ivanovic, Paulo, Mancienne, Essien, Belletti and although untested, Zhirkov and Ashley would probably do well filling in. Again, there's no need to sign a right back. Same goes for centre backs with JT, Alex, Ivanovic and Mancienne...Essien can also play there. With our abundance of right backs, we'll always have someone available to play in the middle. I think the idea of playing Joe at the tip of the diamond is just silly when we have Lampard and Ballack who's proved himself there for Germany. Sorry to sound so negative, but I don't think you thought through much of what you said.

So you don't want to hear what Terry has to say now? What's changed? But yeah I guess its fair enough that the Eto'o deal was called off. He wouldn't have fit into your team.

Avram's Team - I'll be happy with second...

I don't see Real letting go of Sneijder...but a great aquisition if it happens If you had asked me this time last season if Van Der Vaart would be a marquee signing, I would have said 100% yes!! The fact that he hasn't made it onto the pitch at Real is a worry, but I'm sure that had a lot to do with confidence...he lit up the Bundesliga and I'd put him on par with the likes of Diego and Sneijder in terms of ability. Judging from some of the training pictures, it looks like Sheva's been given some good news! Pizzaro looks happy enough too. Obviously not a rock solid source, but I wouldn't be unhappy if they stayed. Again this would point to us signing our creative midfielder.

No Terry, no Eto'o! Unlucky Man City!!

Gonna say Van Der Vaart. He's a pretty versatile midfielder and before he went to Madrid, he was one of the most sought after midfielders in the world. We'd been linked to him a lot. I don't think we'll see another striker come in this season. I have a feeling Kalou will be used more as our 3rd choice striker this season. Despite what he's been like and what people think of him, he's scored some important goals for us on the wing, so hopefully in the middle, he'll be pretty good this season. Bearing in mind Malouda can also play as a second striker, we're probably set in this position. We'll have 2 top quality strikers, 2 first team, make-shift, decent strikers and two fringe strikers. Possibly even Pizzaro (who I'd like to see with us next season) and Sheva too. Whoever you put up front, they'll score if they have a good midfield behind them, so I think having the best midfield in the league is more important than signing the likes of Aguero and Pato. Whether VDV is the man to do that I don't know, but I think someone in midfield with a bit of creativity is important. Pirlo would be another likely option.

I think Capello's tactics in using Gerrard on the left but having him switch roles with Rooney is interesting. I heard somewhere that Joe would be the best replacement for Gerrard in that formation, which is very true. I think the most probable way of seeing Joey play in the centre, would be if we played a 4-4-2 with him on the right and switching roles with Anelka. As TomP said, we've just spent £18m on a winger...which definitely indicates that we'll be playing with widemen, so a diamond is probably not on the cards.
