  1. Load of sh*te!!! Sure, we conceded four goals to many, but my did we deserve the four we scored, against a team playing ON FIRE. Testament to that is the fact that no liverpool player was below a 6/10 across the board of morning papers, whilst chelsea had three 5/10s and one 4/10 (No prizes for guessing who that was!)
  2. So by your logic the best ten players in the prem are, in order, Nicolas Anelka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Steven Gerrard, Kevin Davies, Frank Lampard, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Peter Crouch, De Souza Robinho, Fernando Torres and Adebayor? Think again. (a) RVP's not an out and out striker/goal-scorer (B) His injury record deprives him of goal-scoring opportunities © It takes more than just a striker to score, and by the manner that Arsenal play, there is no one dead cert. scorer (Although of late adebayor seems to have taken that mantle) Sorry if I sound like a dick, but that's such a simplistic comment. At least if it were right (And saying he 'isn't very good', as well as the comparison to top-scorer, goes beyond opinion, its just wrong, ), it would be fine.

Not quite yet - you make a good, and correct, point about people going on about has raw talent, but I believe he shouldn't go, rather take on a more peripheral role. He often goes missing, but he can deliver to the same, if not a higher standard as any other player at his peak, and that makes him a good bench player. He seems so docile that I doubt he's even mind becoming a rotation/back-up player. Simple matter remains is that we need a replacement, and even when our Portugese loanee removes his invisibility cloak, he doesnt offer what malouda does Having said all that, rumours have become become borderline fact that Arsenal still want him - in that case, provided he goes for £10 territory, get rid!
  4. People berate John Terry for being an 'awful role-model' etc. and it just makes me sick to the core - Steven Gerrard, supposedly one of THE ambassadors of the sport, will be, if justice is meted out, a convicted criminal. His passion Liverpool is exemplary, but people seem to forget that what defines acceptable 'passion' in Liverpool's streets would entail a court-date in most other UK cities. His humility regarding Hillsborough, and his tragic loss, gave me the first taste of Steven Gerrard's true colours, and I was impressed, but why arent they visible more often? Watching a, undeniably gifted, 21 year old wheel away from Oliver Kahn's goal after having scored a wonderful goal should be a brilliant experience. But all I saw, and I know I wasnt alone in this, was an expletive laden celebration from the fans, not in a jovial but in a snide hissing fashion, egged on by their skin-head leader. Please dont read too much into the use of the phrase skin-head, as I meant it purely as a physical description, and any connotations I may have included were spelled out - DONT read between the lines here! Before I run away into a full-size rant, Gerrard is not a role-model. Arguably, neither is Terry, but that's for a Liverpool forum to discuss.
  5. I have a feeling that Moyes wouldnt function at Chelsea. Hughes and Moyes used to be uttered in the same breath as far as managerial ability, both working with small squads and smaller budgets. Now that Hughes has got it all, he is floundering. Sure, he 'hasn't had enough time' and 'it isn't HIS squad', but if hes as good as Moyes is meant to be, then no thanks. Call me crazy, but Southgate is not a bad amanger. Boro's form cant simply be chalked up to bad luck, and he has played his part, but Boro play attractive (Well, as much as thats possible for bottom half budgets and squads) football, with Tuncay going down as my signing of the season last year. AND WHY DOES ANYONE WANT ANCELOTTI. Reggiana, Parma, Juve, Milan. Sure, Three established Serie A teams, but hes been, frankly, a disater at AC. A team with their money, back-room staff, supporter-base and heritage should not have been in the UEFA cup last year. He has no outer-Italian experience, and whilst Jose didnt either, theyre obviously quite different people, and I'd maintain that only someone as enigmatic as Jose can shoot so high so quickly. Martin O'neill.......?
  6. Banned after only 5 posts!? A double is a faesability - currently the most likely acheivment is the FA cup, as of the footballing goliaths, only Man U need to be played (And I consciously exclude Arsenal), whereas the CL could (And will, in my eyes, if we beat Barca) feature Barca and Man U. Sure, we dont have to play either in the Prem, but its not in our hands, and whilst Man U might slip up, Liverpool, especially after Wednesday's phenomenal performance (And boy was it!), look on course to be the pretenders. Ill stick my neck out and go for a CL FA double (It's just occurred to me that the guy who asked the question can no longer read this - Oh well!)
  7. Tactfully put guys, and I agree. Cech is beginning to show signs of being past it, and, whilst he has been a brilliant asset for us, after his head injury, he has never been the same. I think it wouldnt be a bad idea to go for Joe Hart - now that Shay's No. 1 at Man. City, he is, whilst not surplus to requirements, a keeper who is admittedly young, but experienced and mature enough to realise that he would get more games at pretty much any other club (Barring, of course the obvious Friedel, Edwin etc.). So long as he wants to go, and Man. City are willing to let him, we should definitely go for him. (Before his move, Given would have been the outstanding choice, a Buffon is frankly a waste of money considering what hes being touted at)
  8. 61. He simply doesn't know the meaning of a lost cause http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmVGwG40mpI...feature=related 62. He actually makes sense in interviews (**Cough** Steven Gerrard **Cough**) 63. He is audible in interviews (See 62) 64. Got a national debate started on whether it was cool/not cool for men to wax their chests 65. Waxes his chest 66. Hit both posts on Wednesday, just to let us blues savour the moment even more on the replays - much obliged, Frank
  9. However much I'd love it to be true, if Villa moving to London is regarded as unlikey and pricey, surely Aguero's would be doubly so!? In fairness, Atletico are probably more likely to sell now that Valencia have recovered somewhat, but still.
  10. Why would we buy a 30+, comparatively burnt-out (Serie A cannot physically compete with the Prem), want-away (i.e. demonstrating a penchant for 'Le Sulk', considering he regularaly starts and Juve have had a good season) striker. I'd rather Kevin Davies than Trezeguet
  11. I'm with you on this one mate! But wouldnt it be SICK. Just what we need to compliment our strike force. Drogba = powerful, quite rapid, good positioning, great technically (Although they all are!). Anelka = rapid, brilliant football brain i.e. good eye for a ball. David Villa = the perect mix of all of that!!
  12. Roberto Carlos? Papa Bouba Diop? Cristiano Ronaldo? No, wait: scrap the last one - Man U fans listen: HE CANT TAKE FREE KICKS. If Alex took all of our freekicks, besides not getting awardedcas many anyway, hed be up with the top scorers. (Although he can shoot - 39.6 yards.....respect!)
  13. Droggy all the way! Although the two votes for Anelka make sense - set up both Drogba's and Lampard's (2nd) goals.
  14. If Wenger demonstartes enough tactical nous, he will try to break us down on the wings, giving RVP license to roam more than usual. Whilst Bolton, and to a certain extent Liverpool, with Torres, possess some serious beef up front (See Kevin Davies), Arsenal cant really compete in that area, so will have to go with what they know best. But anyway, it's only opinion, and I agree with you: passion and will will be evident!
  15. Seeing as Cech's poor form is something he himself seems unaware of/doesn't want to admit to, ANYTHING can happen in goal! Good thing Ashley's here for this, although we'll sorely miss him against Barca - I'm going for 2-2, with a Drogba brace, but I wouldn't go as far as to call the penalties, what with our reputation!
