octville
Hiddink has done well immensely compared to his predecessor who cannot play two strikers without Malouda ! The Dutchman has also injected belief in the squad again, scoring goals with ease - 7 in the last 2 games. But I am saddened that Hiddink is not staying beyond the end of the season. The truth is, other than Mourinho & Hiddink, there are very few top class gaffer left in the game to keep us in this hunt for glory. I am even appalled to the extent of dislike that we have been linked to an under-achieving Carlos Ancelotti. Although his tenure at Milan has brought success since 2001 including the Champion's League & the Scudetto, the trophy cabinet dried up since he won the ESM European Coach of the Year in 2007 in recognition for winning the treble - CL, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA World Cup - without winning the domestic league. This is despite the fact that he had virtually limitless resources at his hand, including KaKa, Ronaldinho and Gattuso, courtesy of the charity of Berlusconi. Milan is 3rd, almost 12 points off the pace of manager-emeritus Mourinho and 5th last season gave them a consolatory appearance in the UEFA Cup. If that's not enough, Milan finished 4th in 2006/07, 3rd in 2005/06, 2nd in 2004/05 after becoming champion in 2003/04 ( get the drift of a single lower placing after every preceding season?). It is like taking an exact step back every season. You start as Champion, then becoming runners-up, then second runners-up and so on until you become fifth. I apologise if I sound disrespectful but Chelsea deserves someone beyond the league of Rikjaard, Scolari, Ancelotti, Avram Grant or even Mark Hughes. Someone who can build a tradition like Alex. And someone who will stay for 2 decades like what Sir Alex did at Old Trafford or Wenger with the gunners. So please... persuade Hiddink to stay. I really do not know who else is capable to do the job

Blue_Boy
I still have high hopes that Hiddink would stay, if not than I would like to see Moyes with us, give him some time and he will do great, as he did at everton and he could stay at chelsea for 20 years (he is 45)
loz
The club has now come out and officially accepted that Hiddink won't be with us next season. They have also rehjected any stroies that Mourinho might return saying that his time has passed. They claim that the serach for the next permamnet manager is well and truly underway. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...sea/7996877.stm

I'm also appalled about the idea of bringing Ancelotti here. We have world class players retired who could take over the reigns. I am talking about Zola-Clarke here, maybe even Deschamps. If we can't top Hiddink, which we can't lets go for the "wild card". Pepe Guardiola is doing a good job at Barca. An old player and Barca-blood running in his veins. Blue Sun Tzu
I have a very strong feeling that if we win the Champions League (or somehow pull off the league) that Hiddink will find a way to stay. I have the utmost respect for Hiddink. I think that he is a man of principal, ergo he will not be here next season whatever the outcome of the season. He has said it. Buck has said it. We have to accept this however begrudgingly. We also have to accept that Jose won't be coming back either. So that does leave the very worrying question who will be. I can honestly say that I cannot think of anyone who is a shoe in for the job. Despite the press talk, I cannot see Ancelotti coming here. We have already made the mistake of hiring a manager who doesn't speak the language and as Octville quite rightly states, his recent record is poor (Octville in intelligent non-inflammatory post shocker!). Like many others here I find it difficult to see past the dream-team of Zola and Clarke but this is unlikely particularly seeing as Gian-Franco has just signed a new deal. Perhpas a little further down the line. So once again we will find a thread that goes on for some 2 million threads Entitled "Our manager for next season". Until then, there is the little matter of tonight... C'MON YOU BLUE BOYS!!!
BLUENUT
After losing the best young manager in the business, after winning 6 trophies in 3/4 years, I'm a bit fed up with 'who's our next manager going to be ' threads. Whoever it is, I just connot see long term stability. There are not that many young hungry managers with alot to prove out there, so I fear we'll end up with an old pro or journey-man here for the money. If Hiddink is a gonna and Jose's out of the question who is there, Sven? Please no!
jordanl5182
Buck admitted caretaker boss Guus Hiddink will be involved in the club's summer transfer plans and he refused to rule out a move for Juventus hit-man David Trezeguet. sky sports With Hiddink still involved in transfers, I can't help but feel that he might be back after he finishes with Russia... Ruh Buh Juh
sky sportsWith Hiddink still involved in transfers, I can't help but feel that he might be back after he finishes with Russia... Yeah, I agree with that. I'd gladly accept him back after he finishes his Russia stint. But the thing is, he said he'd quit Russia after the World Cup, if they make it. What happens if they don't qualify (highly unlikely yes, but it could happen)? 'Cause the qualifiers finish in November, and we can't have a manager for 3 months next season and then sack him to bring back Hiddink. I don't think it's going to work, sadly. I'm stil holding out on Hiddink staying if we win a trophy this season.

g3.7
don't really know how many times it has to be said, but ancelotti is not responsible for milan's problems /squad age. but I agree with blueday, would be disappointed if it wasn't hiddink in the end. (am clinging to the hope he'll decide he can manage russia and chelsea for one more year)
midlandblue
I'm sure he can manage both, but can he be succesful with both, probably not and for this reason a decision has to be made and the person who it boils down to is Roman, does he upsset the fans of Chelsea or the people of Russia. I think the answer is obvious

Hopefully Hiddink will be the man next season - don't think I'd go down the road of having Jose back, history shows that 2nd time round in terms of players and managers (less so admittedly) doesn't work! Butch
While I can definitely see Roman making a decision to hire someone in as a "place-maker" manager while waiting for Hiddink (vulture-like on the part of Chelsea innit?), I wonder if this is the best thing to do. Regarding "jinxed second-comings", I think we can definitely make an exception for Jose. However, I am getting more and more convinced that this will not happen, as much as some of us may will it to. I do believe there is some hope, however small, that Guus remains with us. No matter what, Buck could never have openly admitted it. Cheers, Butch
