Posted March 31, 200916 yr Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...-nightmare.html "Chelsea are lining up a £7million offer for Juventus striker David Trezeguet, according to reports in Italy. Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport say Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to bring the former France striker to Stamford Bridge. Trezeguet, who retired from international football last summer after scoring 34 goals in 71 appearances, has fallen out of favour with former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri". Don't know how good a source Corriere dello Sport is but surely his agent must be working overtime to get him a decent move. 3-4 years ago this would be a very good move but I sincerely hope we are not having a sniff at him. I would take Giovinco from Juve though :D .
March 31, 200916 yr it is a daft rumour- he'll stay in italy or go to france. quality player of course, but it's not the kind of transfer that happens- doesn't make sense for either party.
March 31, 200916 yr Anyone remember about 2-3 summers ago (I think it was when we signed Sheva, actually) there was a rumor going around that Treeguet was coming to the bridge for well over 30 million or some such? At the time, I was thinking "thank god we got sheva instead". Yeah......
March 31, 200916 yr As far as I know Juventus does not want to sell him to anyone and I don't even think Trezeguet is desperate to leave, even if him and Ranieri has had a row.
April 10, 200916 yr The title should be changed to "chelsea plan to end Juventus' nightmare and start their own"
April 14, 200916 yr Even Bruce Buck isnt dismissing this rumour. Surely we aren't going down the aging striker road again.
April 14, 200916 yr Nah, the media are twisting his statement massively IMO. I don't see anything that actually implies we are interested in him...
April 14, 200916 yr Roman Abramovich wants to bring the former France striker to Stamford Bridge. Here-in lie's the problem, we don't even know who the manager next season is going to be. We cannot start signing players before we've got a manager - surely!!!!!
April 14, 200916 yr We cannot start signing players before we've got a manager - surely!!!!! You clearly don't know how Chelsea Football Club works!! Look at the signing of Bosingwa...was he Grant's signing?? Shevchenko was brought in without Jose's approval. Now we have Guus helping us plan transfers even though he's not stay with us ...apparently (I'm living in the hope).
April 14, 200916 yr Bosingwa was bought knowing Scolari was on his way, Shevchenko was bought because Roman wanted him here and this was partly why Jose left, Chelsea will not make that costly mistake again and Guss is only expressing an opinion.
April 14, 200916 yr Bosingwa was bought knowing Scolari was on his way, Shevchenko was bought because Roman wanted him here and this was partly why Jose left, Chelsea will not make that costly mistake again and Guss is only expressing an opinion. What if the next managewr doesn't value or want Hiddinks opinion or input?
April 14, 200916 yr he doesnt have to listen to it now, does he (unless someone has all ready been appointed) quite simply, if Guss is not here next season, it matters not what he says or thinks about it.
April 14, 200916 yr he doesnt have to listen to it now, does he (unless someone has all ready been appointed)quite simply, if Guss is not here next season, it matters not what he says or thinks about it. But I was under the impression we were going to hire him for his advise on transfers. Why sign players, and get advise on who to sign if we don't know who the manager is? It's where it all started going wrong with Jose, and I not too confident that lessons have been learnt
April 14, 200916 yr sorry, mis understood. with regard to Guss being permanantly employed as an advisor, why not? it's only advice, you can take it or leave it.
April 14, 200916 yr sorry, mis understood.with regard to Guss being permanantly employed as an advisor, why not? it's only advice, you can take it or leave it. I'm all for it mate, especially on what I've seen of him so far, but there must be an established working relationship with the manager who is being brought in, otherwise it's doomed to fail. Newcastle with Wise and Spurs with Camolli are the most recent examples, and I cannot for the life of me think of a similar partnership that has been sucessful in the English football.
April 15, 200916 yr After what we have experienced with Guus, even if it is just a short period of time, I think Roman will listen the man very carefully on what he has to say about players to buy. I don't think Trez is among them. He is a quality player but so is Kalou... I hope Arnesen has a long meeting with Hiddink about which players should leave and which ones should we go after.

It should be upto Chelsea's next manager who comes and goes - no-one else!
April 15, 200916 yr It should be upto Chelsea's next manager who comes and goes - no-one else! Totally agree , any new manager needs to assess the current squad and decide were additions need to be and who will fill these positions. The danger with Guus being on the sidelines is that having Romans ear a new manager/coach could feel continually undermined. One other thought if Guus was to win the champions league would having him sat above a new mnager even if it is advisor be a good thing...one only has to look at ManU when Matt Busby moved upstairs each new manager struggled because of this.
April 15, 200916 yr If Hiddink, as it appears he will, decides he doesn't want the job full time then I think the idea of him being an adviser is a dreadful one. It is widely known that Hiddink and ROman are good friends and the last thing a new manager needs is an adviser who is best mates with his boss!
April 16, 200916 yr Wasn't this a problem between Grant and Jose? On the other hand, if we bring in a young manager surely he would want to know what Hiddink has to say. In a perfect world, the manager would have most of the say in the matter. He could let it be known upstairs that he needs a certain position filled on the pitch, and let the director of football find a few candidates from which the manager will pick one -- or not.
April 16, 200916 yr Why would we buy a 30+, comparatively burnt-out (Serie A cannot physically compete with the Prem), want-away (i.e. demonstrating a penchant for 'Le Sulk', considering he regularaly starts and Juve have had a good season) striker. I'd rather Kevin Davies than Trezeguet
