So the king of Belgium abdicated today, apparently it was to make way for the new successor, Eden Hazard.

Does this signing really make sense? I know pundits have wondered what it will do to the chemistry of the team but it only makes sense if he is a centre forward instead of joining Wazza or whatever.

We are unwilling to splash cash on Cavani but silly money on Rooney is ok? This seems unusual to me

Can't say I'm overjoyed at his signing but he definitely seems to add some dimensions that have been missing. Will be fun to see him play some games coming up next season and if he can fulfill much of this potential. Definitely a more exciting German signing than Marin for me though.

Oh to have Essien healthy again

I appreciate everything Torres has done for us, his goal against Barca, winning the corner against Bayern, his proficiency in Europa. Buuut its time to move on, this guy still hasn't won a Prem title and likely never will

While larger stadiums are no guarantee of success as Newcastle can attest to and West Ham will soon find out, if a successful club can combine that success with the larger revenues possible from bigger stadiums this integral to long-term growth. If anything this Lillie Bridge situation can attest to the administrations desire to build and expand leading to a future legacy for this club which is so important in my opinion.

Interesting and thoughtful post. The one thing I would argue is that Drogba did take quite a few deadball kicks and goals, I'm too lazy at this point to tall them all up though.

This is precisely it, every transfer is a gamble from the Shevchenko's to Drogba who was premier league unproven. Ever year in every league teams load up with new players and the media assumption that it will always be a success or there is some reason for them to choke, but you can never really tell until you play the games. Could Cavani be a flop? Ya but he could be many things, I share others concerns that he may be judged again by his price tag as another noted player but an upgraded as certainly needed, regardless of the possibility of him busting.

I`m really interested in the player but he has not played a lot of first team games. Certainly not an immediate replacement for anyone but would be a great addition to the squad.
